Finally decided on dinner - a can of lentil soup.
But wanted to add stuff to it. Stir fried onion, celery, garlic, mushrooms. Kept adding stuff - tomatoes, some leftover chick peas, napa cabbage, sesame oil.
At that point, there was no need for the soup.

Kept adding stuff - tomatoes, some leftover chick peas, napa cabbage, sesame oil. At that point, there was no need for the soup. Yes just last week. I started macaroni for macaroni and stewed tomatoes  But as the macaroni was cooking I saw this in the frig.  So I ended up having this. Before the macaroni was done I drained it and switched it from the stove to a crock-pot. Cut up the Velveeta cheese into small chucks and put them in with the macaroni. I saw we had three strips of bacon so I fried them up then put them on top of cheese and macaroni. Turned out great.

Just wonder if while making it, the actual main ingredient you intended to use was the thing left out.
Like going to the grocery store for one thing and coming back with everything but that thing, not because you forgot it or it cost too much, but because the other stuff displaced it.
