I would love it if by some miracle, Annette Bening gets in. Her resemblance to the character she plays (Old Hollywood actress Gloria Grahame) is quite remarkable. Annette getting an Oscar nomination seems like a longshot, of course, but I like to think of Charlotte Rampling's surprise nomination a couple of years ago. Charlotte was only nominated for one precursor award (the Critics' Choice award) going into the Oscar nominations. Similarly, the only precursor nomination that Annette has received is a BAFTA nomination. So, an Oscar nomination for Annette could in theory still happen, but it's unlikely.

I hope Margot Robie wins for I Tonya, but I'm thinking Ronan will get it...

Sally Hawkins & Frances McDormand are 100% nominees and also frontrunners. Margot Robbie will probably also get nominated and Meryl Streep is always a safe bet. I haven't seen Lady Bird yet, but based on the awards attention so far I think Saoirse is the probable 5th nominee.

I'd rather see Gadot as a surprise nominee than seeing Madam Streep for the umpteenth time.

I think it will be:
Sally Hawkins
Frances McDormand
Margot Robbie
Saoirse Ronan
and …..Jessica Chastain.
Meryl was good, but not great (due to no fault of hers, the script didnt really give her more than 1 or 2 interesting scenes) plus Jessicas studio is pushing a lot. But than again, The Post is politically on spot so who knows. But my bet is "probably" going to be on Jessica. With Judi Dench and Meryl Streep as strong contenders and of course if Annete Benning was a surprise swoop in that would be delightful!
