To anyone who has seen many, most, or all of the X-Files 'reboot' episodes from 2016, or the second group being shown this year......in general, would you rate them great, good, fair or poor, and (again, in general) how do they compare to the original episodes from 1993-2002 ? At some point I plan on catching up with all of them, but would like to have SOME idea beforehand if they're any good at all (even though I'm pretty sure I'll watch them, even if everyone says they suck...). Anyone ?? SAVE FERRIS

I liked season 10 for the most part. I hated the new agents that I assume were supposed to take over for Mulder and Scully. They've appeared once in season 11 briefly and haven't been seen since, so hopefully they're gone for good. Season 11 just isn't the same X-Files. I hated the premier, the weird revelations, and the copout in how they resolved the season 10 cliffhanger. I liked the latest episode (with the twins) but it still just isn't the same show.

I would say they are good. One episode from Season 10 was fantastically humorous and fun.
While it may not be the same "X-Files", I'm glad to have it back. I'll take what I can.

Gillian leaving for good at the end of the season kinda puts a damper on my enjoyment.

I haven't seen the new episodes so perhaps they're good, but I really felt like they didn't need to bring it back. Not so long after the original series.

The new mythology episodes have been wretched so far. Last season was pretty forgettable over all except for the Darin Morgan were creature episode which was brilliant. I expect this seasons Darin Morgan episode to be my favorite as well and will boldly predict it will also be highly acclaimed by critics and all X philes (get it?) with a sense of humor.
I have dvr the 3rd ep this season but have only watched the first 2. The premiere was odd and pointless and a total cheat after last seasons finale/ Two huge WTF?!!!! moments. The second ep was much better and obviously Carter and the other writers really really really regret killing off the lone gunmen. Carter has no problem fucking with the continuity of everything else so why he doesn't just bring the gunmen back to life is beyond me.

They faked their deaths in the Season 10 comics and I was hoping the same would happen here. Carter made a mistake killing off so many characters before the original series finale. There was no point in it and now it's coming back to bite him. The recent episode (with the twins) felt like a real X-Files episode. I loved the were-creature episode, probably my favorite episode of season 10.

I loved the were-creature episode, probably my favorite episode of season 10. I actually teared up a little when he killed off the lone gunmen. The fans have made it perfectly clear we want the lone gunmen back and they even teased us with it in ep 2. I knew it would be a semi call back to earlier seasons VR stuff though and still not sure how I feel about all the "is everyone just in a computer simulation" either.. To be honest I thought the twist might be Mulder and Scully were testing some FBI simulation. Not digging Skinner being at odds with them either and the way the mythology (which is now lame IMO) leaking into the standalone eps. Since this might actually be for real the final season for real, I'm trying to slowly watch the episodes but I'm glad you said the last one felt like a real X-Files. I won't be able to not watch the Darin Morgan episode. He is my favorite writer on a staff of brilliant writers. His resume includes some of the best X-Files eps ever: Humbug War of the Copraphages Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose and my favorite episode of ANY hour long TV show ever Jose Chung's From Outer Space I still say Jose Chung is the greatest achievement in television history. One of those rare moments when tv transcends the medium as trite as that sounds. I've seen it countless times and the ending still never fails to move me. As long as Darin Morgan writes at least one episode I would continue to watch forever. I would give Vince Gilligan the nod as 2nd best writer. Bad Blood is hilarious perfection as is Small Potatoes. Sadly Chris Carter would probably be near the bottom. Which is sad considering how great several of the mythology eps were but his failure to EVER give us any resolution in even a half assed way deducts points big time. I want to believe but in the end it's best to trust no one.

Duchovney seems to actually care this season and I'm actually warming up to Scully and Mulder sexy time. That was the best episode that wasn't were-creature since they returned. I'm super excited for the next episode.

Season 10 seemed a bit hit-and-miss to me. I'm enjoying the current season more.

SAVE FERRISi have not seen this but i can't help but scratch my head about apparently scully bowing out after a [laughable] reboot of 6 episodes [which is a quarter of a season] in 2016. fast forward enough time for people to forget that that WAS the reboot and this season now, -2018- is the season2 of the reboot. two full years later. um... really?

It is pretty much great from beginning to end and has a bunch of classics. Two and Three are close IMO, but it starts its decline in Season 7, even if it is still great.

I always enjoyed the 'monster of the week' episodes more. If that's what the new series is like then I might give it a try. And what about Scully's vibrator? You have to be kidding. Scully?

I like the Millennium episode with Jose Chung where Lance Henricksen is imagined as a detective with a bright blue costume and cheerful attitude.
"Come on! This is a murder scene! Not a funeral!"
"Hey do you want to look at the body?"
"No way! I don't want to see anything negative."

Morris Fletcher
"There is no Saddam Hussein. This guy's name is John Gillnitz, we found him doing dinner theatre in Tulsa. Did a mean "King and I." Plays good ethnics. I'm saying I invented the guy. We set him up in '79. He rattles his saber whenever we need a good distraction. Ah... if you boys only knew how many of your stories I dreamed up while on the pot. "
