I don't think separate boards or threads works, often I find I learn more about how I think when challenged by someone who fundamentally disagrees with me. This times a million. It was reading/listening the debates between atheists and theists that played a huge part in forming my own beliefs for many years. The best way to get to any truth, even if it's your own personal beliefs, is to relentlessly put them to the test. I'm reminded of Yudkowsky's Twelve Virtues of Rationality (especially two and five): I just wanted to emphasize the bolded part.

gadreel I am a mere passer by upon this board and I read and liked something that you said and have borrowed stolen it (slightly altered)for my signature. Hope you don't mind. It can be erased if such thievery is not condoned. LOL, I am the poster he said it to, and I have no problem with you quoting it. I asked permission to use a quote of OldSamVines as my signature, and he was okay with it.

rachelcarson1953 It was funny as he said it but it's more all purpose in its altered state. Thanks for the 1/2 permission !

Don't waste your time, this clown actually believes the shit he peddles, the only one buying it are him and his girlfriend, and I notice she does not weigh in on this kind of conversation. When even your partner abandons you, you know you have issues. Yeah, gad, I'm done. Pearls before swine, you know. Maybe he will just put me on block, like an adult. How are you doing? Any progress on the house-hunting endeavor? On the old board and now on this board, Erjenious has consistently maintained that a board entitled 'Religion, Faith and Spirituality' should ONLY have positive religious discussions and that atheists should be banned. He just said as much again. His hypocrisy on the subject of discourtesy of atheists is legendary when you realise that many hundreds of times he has stated that homosexual and atheists should be burned in hell forever. He maintains that every time was have a discussion with our point of view (or in fact any point of view that diverges from his and his crappy YouTube conspiracy theory videos, especially if they are religion themed ), that we blaspheme...etc etc etc. Very Christian, right?

A former poster (actually more than one, as it ended up being a shared account), but an oversimplification - DT was one account (ayelewis was another) among many (some of them were on the "Manly Movies" forum for a while) that were pretty much just lulz spammers. They weren't there to really discuss any topic on any forum, they'd just roll through and squat on forums for a while, spamming crap non-stop. The "some people just like to watch the forum burn" types. That didn't destroy the forum in and of itself, though. After a couple of weeks of the whole first page being nonsensical lulz spam, it just made some of the more discussion-minded types find homes elsewhere. ^ What he said. Wasn't there also some doxxing involved with the DT guys? I actually don't know - I never (literally never) interacted with that account or those dudes and didn't really pay attention to what their posts actually contained beyond the first few encounters.

That was more of that Ben Caesar guy's MO.

I don't think separate boards or threads works, often I find I learn more about how I think when challenged by someone who fundamentally disagrees with me. I respect people who are willing to put their emotionally valuable beliefs on the line to be rationally interrogated by those who don't agree. Erjen would cite this as an example of atheists bullying the theists off the forum; and indeed there is a marked dearth of theists, considering that this is a forum for discussing religion. That I believe to be the case because, unlike you, most theists are afraid of allowing their beliefs to undergo rigorous scrutiny; and even when the tone of the discussion is civil, this is perceived as hectoring and bullying in nature by the theist.

I don't suppose it means a lot to you given our previous posting history, but you just went up in my eyes. That was a thoughtful and rational response and I appreciate it. Given the warning I just received I am rethinking just how much effort I put in to the likes of Erjen and Maya, they are not worth any time and with any luck they will get ignored enough that they just drift away. Actually fuck it, I am going to use the ignore feature, I have never done so, but given the heavy handed response I received from the largely absent admin I figure those two are not worth even knowing that they exist.

There is no "rational" interrogation here, nor is there any reason for there to be. Leave my emotionally valuable beliefs alone, and I'll leave yours alone.

tpfkar I just wanted to emphasize the bolded part. You can't move forward by directing your "truth" via your affections, either. And on a site for discussion things need to be described & discussed as they actually are. Because not everyone is a Christian, you moron.

I picture more a dystopian post-apocalyptic forum scenario - only they are left, him posting yewtewb links into the void, her responding to each with a random jpeg link and all-caps non-sequitur.
