I understand that many people tend to rate DOFP as the best X Men movie besides Logan but I just felt like X2 and First Class we're superior.
It was a really good movie but I have to say upon rewatch it felt rather slow at times, slightly overselling the emotion and barely any intense action.
Compared to X2 and First Class which managed to strike the right balance between the action and the emotion, have a great pace and just feel like tighter movies.
Anyone else agree?

In my opinion X2 is the best paced comic film ever, which is partly the reason why it holds up well today. Its got the most rewatchability out of any X-film because the story builds scene on scene so well and theres no dragged out moments or unnecessary subplot.
DOFP is a bit slower without much intense action I agree, but I still rate it higher than X2 and First Class because theres more memorable scenes. The quicksilver rescue, old and new xavier meet, the opening sentinels attack, Magnetos speech montage at the end, wolverine waking up in the original mansion, Xavier Magneto argument on plane.
First Class would been up there if only the supporting mutants where more interesting. Firefly, havoc, darwin, banshee were pretty limited visually.

But absolutely worth it, saw it way later after release as a grown up. I could not believe how many great actors they got for the parts in (back then) such an obscure franchise. I was especially impressed by the old men (Magneto & Prof X) relationship. And I freaking loved the allegory of minority persecution, especially with that slimy senator - reminds me a bit of the SW prequels, I need a bit of intellectual and meaningful world building and stakes in my B-Movies.

All 3 are great but I think DOFP is a bit better than both X2 and FC.

X2 is still my favorite X-Men move. I go back and forth on what I prefer between First class and DoFP.

X2 was basically the dark knight without the heath ledger's impact and factor. now the best xmen movies are subjective.
DOFP Logan X2
Can all claim the number spot. Deadpool and First Class are strong alternatives.
I love X2's cinematography though, one reason it does hold up today. its always nice to watch a comic film that doesn't look like a cartoon.
And of course, X2 is a heavy thematic drama, I think X2's cgi scenes are around 25%. this was the reason people were so hard on X3 as X3 was all action, action, action with little story telling.

X1 is far more than a classic. there may never even have been a Nolan TDK trilogy had Nolan not seen X1 on a plane.

Definitely X2. Spider-Man 2 and X2 were the long reigning CBM champions until Nolan crushed it with The Dark Knight.
Looking forward to seeing the film that crushes The Dark Knight.
