Why is it a soccer net is 24 feet wide and 8 feet tall yet soccer guys rarely can get a ball inside? Conversely a basketball rim is a mere 18 INCHES in diameter and basketball athletes are able to hit that tiny target 40+ times every game? No wonder almost everyone has to be drunk and stupid to enjoy soccer.

I know of cricket's solid global footprint, part of me is jealous of how smooth it all works. My previous job we had a cleaning guy, Sri Lankan, who would get giddy for the World Cups & what not. I think what's most fascinating to me is the powers come from all corners of the world - Oceania, South Asia, Caribbean, British Isles. I wonder if the sport is better off that way, not having North American &/or European strangleholds. Are the competitions on some giant rotation? Is it akin to Davis Cup ranked opposition?? As an outsider they all seem like giant friendlies. The seven nations I mentioned are the top tier. there are a few others, Bangla Desh, Zimbabwe and (I am very excited about this) Afghanistan just recently was accredited. The Ashes (England vs Australia) is the only organised series of Tests (5 day matches) that I know of, held every few years. All the rest are AFAIK ad hoc, but they all have their attractions. India is cricket mad and opposing sides always have trouble winning there, partly due to the way they prepare their pitches, but every country has its own way of preparing cricket pitches. There is some sort of ranking system like FIFA soccer ranks, different for 5 day test cricket and 1 day matches, but that is just for bragging rights.

there's been countless games played in high speed, with several goals for each team, decided in epic battles as time expires, etc. Careful, you're putting my ignorance on display. I thought there was a santa clause. What game should I watch that best describes the above? I would honestly be interested in seeing it. I'm only saying I have yet to see one. Every time I tune into a game it's one big backwards pass. i would honestly like to see what you're describing. Watch the English Premier League and you'll routinely see games like I described.

Contrarily in a sport like soccer there are several people who can redirect or block your shot.

Cricket because I have no idea what's going on. I’ve never understood how a Baseball fan, even a casual one, cannot grasp the general idea of cricket. Watch 15 minutes of televised cricket and using your knowledge of baseball, you’ll understand it. Now, if you said “Cricket, because it’s a poor version of Baseball” or “Cricket because it’s slow” etc I’d understand. I just don’t get it..... This is true, I have no idea how Cricket works but I'm a Big Baseball fans so I kind of get the appeal, well apart from Games lasting for Days or something like that lol

That's what I have against the dozens and dozens of soccer games I've tried tuning in to. It's far too "careful" for my taste. It's okay to strike out, but at least take a couple swings.

Also some people seem to think a 0-0 game or 1-0 game is automatically boring which is not the case.

This is true, I have no idea how Cricket works but I'm a Big Baseball fans so I kind of get the appeal, well apart from Games lasting for Days or something like that lol There is a ready made version of the game for you - Twenty20 Cricket. From start to finish, the whole game takes roughly the same time as a baseball game. Look up Indian Premier League (IPL) or Big Bash League (BBL - which is Australian) and watch a game. As a big Baseball fan, trust me, you will pick up and appreciate the tactics and skills very easily. Think of concepts like relief pitching and infield shifts taken to extreme levels. Far too many non cricket fans get hung up on the “Game lasts 5 days” aspect of Test Cricket. Whilst this is completely true, this version of the game is catered to the purist fans and only occurs in international play. In general, local cricket lasts a day or a weekend, and gets longer the higher the level of play. But for modern audiences (and foreign audiences too) they have deliberately condensed the game to make it a) more accessible and b) more exciting.

You're right. I haven't seen the tooth fairy, santa clause or the easter bunny either. Stupid argument. Hey... If 2 countries have the same amount of gold, silver and bronze medals in the Olympics, what's the tiebreaker?

This is true, I have no idea how Cricket works but I'm a Big Baseball fans so I kind of get the appeal, well apart from Games lasting for Days or something like that lol Possibly the most important differences are two. A flat bat gives the batsman far greater control than with a round baseball bat, forcing the opposing team to be more subtle in their field placing. When bowling the ball is bounced. This allows more variation than with a baseball pitch, and brings the condition of the pitch as a major factor, whether it is fast or slow, or whether the ball might hit a hole or crack, sending it off course and making the batsman mis-hit.
