I know it's nowhere near as good as X1 or 2 or First Class or Logan, but I like it way better than Origins and The Wolverine and Apocalypse, and objectively, yeah DoFP is probably a better movie, but I find Last Stand to much more rewatchable and enjoyable. Their biggest mistake was trying to run two main X-Men runs into one story; Dark Phoenix and the Cure. Given the initial tone of the film series so far at the time, they should have stuck with the Cure storyline and saved Dark Phoenix for a future film. But Last Stand had balls to kill off Prof. X, which before it got undermined by DoFP, worked well emotionally. Didn't feel like it was for shock purposes. The moment where Logan opens the door and sees Xavier right before he explodes hits all the notes emotionally, same with Magneto's shock as well. My problem with the new films is that they're becoming the Jennifer Lawrence films. They took the mystique out of Mystique, which really irritates me, and I really hope Dark Phoenix doesn't become another Jennifer Lawrence film.

Its good I dont know why it gets a bad rep. Its just too short at like 1hour 45 minutes so trying to jam in the Dark Phoneix story and the cure was not needed. If they focused on 1, it would have been a great end to the original trilogy.

Yeah, I'd say it was enjoyable but a rushed mess. Still better than Apocalypse.
I honestly prefer the old X Men trilogy to the new one. FC is probably my second favorite X Men movie behind X2, DOFPwas pretty good but too much Jennifer Lawrence, Apocalypse was more disappointing than The Last Stand and X Men was just a fun introduction to the franchise.

Always liked it, never saw the online disdain, it may be the weakest of the first trilogy but it's not bad. I have never read the comic books though.

I like how gray the film is, you're not sure who, if anyone, was right - hell, if there are any right decisions and they simply had to pick the lesser of two evils.

I enjoyed it about the same as Apocalypse. A lot of characters get shortchanged but the action is entertaining.

I see the problems in retrospect, but I enjoyed it while watching it. Same with Apocalypse.

And JLaw screentime in the X-Men has been too small to be consider a main character and she only spend two weeks of filming on DP.

It's okay. I like it, for the most part.

I don't remember disliking it when I saw the film, that's usually a good sign with me.

I agree that one of the biggest issues was it is rushed, they should have let the movie be another 45mins longer, if they were going to tackle the Cure stuff AND Dark Phoenix/Jean. I think the only reasons I didn't love it (I do like it) when I originally saw it was I never cared for Jean in the movies (until APOCALYPSE, they did phenomenally better!). The ending is bleakly beautiful, with she and Logan. Honestly, despite having never shipped them in the movies or comics, it broke my heart to watch it cause you knew what that was doing to Logan. The only thing he could give her was the peace of a quick death. It seemed to echo some of the Samuri Wolverine stuff. And I didn't want Rogue to lose her powers, but having read a lot of the comics, I figured it wouldn't last... flash-forward to DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, and I find out that's true- her cure just temporarily suppressed her powers. It made sense, with how she was written in the movies. And the scene with she and Logan, ("I'm not your father, I'm your friend") was one of the best scenes in the original trilogy.

I didn't but I can see why some might like it. I feel like it would have been a better movie if they didn't cram the cure storyline with the Dark Phoenix storyline.

I found it to be pretty good and underrated. However, it's the second weakest of the franchise for me (next to Origins). I just felt like they rushed some of the deaths and didn't have much meaning to them. Also, some characters could have been used so much more to their potential but were somewhat wasted because of the limited amount of spotlight they had in the movie (eg Juggernaut, Colossus, etc). But the film still had a great end battle and the acting is still sharp. It's also very entertaining and one of those movies you can just pop in and have fun with. I give it 7/10. Definitely not the bad film people make it out to be.

It's not horrible, just disappointing. There are aspects of the movie I like, but there's too much crammed into a short running time.

Yeah it ain't too bad, has some pretty good action scenes in there.
Though yes it was too short and it was a big mistake to have two major story lines in there. In hindsight with the upcoming movie they really should have nixed the Dark Phoenix story line.
It also had too many characters in general which meant a bunch weren't getting much screen time.
A two hour movie, focused solely on the Cure story line and removing say half a dozen characters and it would have been solid.
