Not sure if he was mentioned, but don't forget Ramón Novarro, the silent screen star with an unfortunate tragic life and end. He was one of the greats of the Silent Era. The silent Ben Hur.

There is a two-color sequence in the silent BEN HUR, showing the hero's triumphant entry into Rome after the sea battle. You can easily see the rouge and lipstick Novarro was wearing in that scene--if you can take your eyes off the topless girls scattering petals in front of his chariot.

POLITICS aside … this developed into a fun thread … suggest skipping the rants and the POLITICS and enjoy the images and actual discussion of FILMS . It was recently re-brought to my attention and felt it was worth bring back to life (however briefly)
