Wrath of Khan. I don't like Return of the Jedi much.

Wrath of Khan...Return of the Jedi was just a glorified, two-hour toy commercial.

Ouch! Now that's a good face off. This one's got me thinking pretty hard.
Ultimately I have to go with Star Trek 2 The Wrath of Khan, by a slim margin, but it's probably the better made movie. I am much more of a Star Wars fan by far than a Trek fan, but Khan effects its franchise in a much greater way than ROTJ effects SW. What we think of as modern day Trek starts right there in that movie, the "Horatio Hornblower"-isation of Trek forever more cemented in one fell swoop.

Return of the Jedi is probably better.
I like Wrath of Khan though.

The Wrath of Khan is my No.1 movie of 1982, my favourite early 80s movie and my second favourite Star Trek movie. And I'm a massive Star Trek fan. Nicholas Myer gave us a gem. For that reason, this one gets my pick.
Return of the Jedi is also a lot of fun. I'm not a huge fan of the First Act, think the Ewoks should have been made less cuddly and was a tad let down to see Darth Vader being so heavily overshadowed by Emperor Palpatine. That said, the cast do a superb job here. I thoroughly enjoyed Mark Hamill's depiction of a more experienced, mature and reflective Luke Skywalker and the showdown in the throne room, interspersed with the battles taking place in space and on Endor, served as a triumphant conclusion to the trilogy.

I kinda like the title "Wrath of the Jedi," come to think about it. Both of the films in this thread underwent title changes. "Wrath of Khan" was actually the third title for that movie. Director Nicholas Meyer's original title was "The Undiscovered Country". The studio, without Meyer's knowledge or consent, decided to change it to "The Vengeance of Khan". Meyer, who hated that title, pointed out the similarity to the third Star Wars film, which was then called Revenge of the Jedi. So Paramount changed the second Star Trek to "Wrath of Khan" before the Fox changed the third Star Wars to "Return of the Jedi". Meyer went on to use his original title for Star Trek II as the title for Star Trek VI. I just came here to post this!

I prefer SW, but I’m voting ST.
WoK is one of the, or maybe the one true, best Treks.
ROTJ has issues and is not at the top of my SW rankings.
I forgot that name change trivia! Awesome.
