I have been watching some Cecil B. DeMille movies lately.
I have noticed that many of his later movies had a narrator sweeping prologues to set up the movies. I assume that he is was narrator, but who wrote them? I can't find reference to these prologues (author or narrator) in the IMDb credits.
These spoken prologues set up the backgrounds to the movies often Biblical or historic subjects. Of course, his movies were not the first to use the spoken prologue rather than the written prologue.
Does anyone know who wrote these important parts to the movies in question? I'm pretty sure that these had this spoken prologues:
1956 The Ten Commandments
1952 The Greatest Show on Earth
1949 Samson and Delilah
1947 Unconquered
1944 The Story of Dr. Wassell
1942 Reap the Wild Wind
1940 North West Mounted Police
1939 Union Pacific
But, I'm not sure about those that came before 1940. The prologues are almost poetic enough to have been printed in a collection. Does anyone know of such a collection of spoken prologues?

Found this kijii: Cecil B. DeMille wrote most of his early films.
It's quite possible that he wrote the intros himself. I remember well the introduction and narration of The Greatest Show....

Also The Buccaneer remake had De Mille lecturing the audience at the start. Although nominally directed by his then son-in-law Anthony Quinn it is very much a De Mille film.
