Do you like either one of these actors? Do you think denzel Washington is like, the black kevin Costner? Yea, he's like the African American version of kevin Costner, is that comparison apt? Cuz i'm sayin' he's exactly like that. Aint no actors more similar, imo.

I do not like Kevin Costner.
I think Denzel can be a bit overrated in some roles. He has exceptional moments like Glory.

In terms of overall screen presence... both are solid as it's close either way. but if I base it on movies that stand out between the two it favors... Denzel, which makes me lean towards Denzel if I have to choose.
also, both have appeared in a 10/10 level movie for me(there are only nine movies I gave a 10/10 in general), which are... Training Day (2001) and Open Range (2003).
but if I based it on volume of movies each actor has amongst My Favorite Movies in general... Denzel has 5 and Costner only 2 as you can see below...
Denzel...
1.Training Day (2001) - 10/10 (THE movie many will remember Denzel for, including myself.) 2.The Book of Eli (2010) - 7.5-8/10 3.Flight (2012) - 7-7.5/10 4.Deja Vu (2006) - 7/10 5.American Gangster (2007) - 6.5-7/10
Costner...
1.Open Range (2003) - 10/10 (within my Top 4 Westerns ever as this is basically a four way tie for my #1 Western(basically four of the nine movies I gave a 10/10 are Westerns)) 2.Mr Brooks (2007) - 8/10 (this used to be a 9/10 for me until my most recent re-watch on May 9th 2017)
but I will say between the two actors that Costner holds the #1 spot for most interesting character which is Mr Earl Brooks from Mr Brooks (2007) even though Denzel is great in Training Day.
p.s. speaking of Training Day... the director of this is basically a one-hit-wonder for me.

Like them both. Except for The Postman and Safe House.

I like Denzel a lot. Pretty solid actor, I have never seen him in a bad performance.
Kevin Costner is an actor that I like sometimes, Mr Brooks is a good example. I find him very wooden in The Untouchables, I prefer to see him playing badass characters, like in Criminal or 3 Days to Kill (which is sort of a b movie, but i like his character Ethan and the father-daughter relationship, this is a feel good movie in my book).

Denzel Washington has more range and charisma, but Kevin Costner is also a good actor.

Have you seen 3000 Miles to Graceland? It's not a very good movie but Costner is a total bad-ass in it.

That is the kind of character I like him to play.

I actually don't mind Costner but his range is lacking big time. He's good in some westerns though.
Denzel is on another level .

I prefer Kevin Costner. The minute I saw him in Silverado, I knew he was going to be a big star.
Denzel is not one of my favorites. And he always looks habut (Hawaiian slang) when he doesn't win the award.

I'd say Denzel Washington has more screen presence. More range.
I haven't seen either of them in a movie in a long time but based on other comments and his performance in A Perfect World maybe Costner was more suited for something other than the goodie twoshoes which is how I tend to regard him thanks to the Untouchables.

I think both have been in great films.
But, as an actor, I think Denzel is much better.
I should add that I really liked the young Costner in the mid-80s with Silverado, Bull Durham and especially No Way Out. Then he decided to go a very different way, starting with Dances with Wolves. Much more mellow, subdued and kinda boring.
Denzel has been much more consistent.

I prefer Denzel. He's a fantastic actor. Costner is far from a bad actor, but I don't think he's anything real special.

Not a Denzel fan although he was good in the racist comedy Carbon Copy(1980)--I also enjoyed Deja Vu(2007) but little else--Unstoppable(2011) was an atrocity
Just saw Costner's Waterworld(1996) for the second time in 20 years, it was a lot better than I remembered it

Washington for all. Much prefer him as an actor, though Costner has grown on me quite a bit recently.
