The Thing (1982)
Heaven Can Wait (better than Here Comes Mr. Jordan).
Here's one that few will agree with, but I actually enjoyed the Arthur remake more than the original.
Also, if you consider Body Double to be a remake of Vertigo, then I have to say Body Double too (probably because I saw it before Vertigo).

What the hell was that a remake of? My mistake I was thinking of The Maltese Falcon 1941 which was a remake of The Maltese Falcon 1931

GB 2016 is considered a reboot (Albeit a FAILED one) of the Ghostbusters franchise instead of a remake.

The Ring is as creepy as Ringu although the "explanation" for the ghost girl is better in Ringu.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is at least as good as the original and Rooney Mara is a better Lisbeth.

Evil Dead, which ignores the '13 film completely to my knowledge, makes it clear that that film was a failure in the studio's eyes so they decided to go back to the Ash storyline.
