Why Johnny Depp for POTC? Say what you want about the movies, but his performance in them is nothing short of spectacular. The razzies fail, again. Thank you! I have yet to see the latest POTC movie... but even with On Stranger Tides considered, the performances at least held up. The Emoji Movie defines the millennial generation. It's unfair it's being treated with such disdain. Not millennials.... I believe. Doesn't that movie supposedly take place inside a phone of an adolescent? Adolescents as of 2017 and 2018 are far from being millennials. It feels like I got to check out Mother! later. Was the movie really that divisive from what I've been hearing about?

Didn't see mother!, but I doubt he's bad there, either. Bardem is fantastic in Mother! and the movie itself is brilliant imo.

The Snowman and Geostorm were robbed! I actually thought Sofia Boutella's performance was one of the best things in The Mummy. She didn't deserve a nomination. Once again, the Razzies go after the easy targets, though I do love seeing Transformers: The Last Knight ranking in nominations. I don't think the acting - aside from Russell Crowe - was the problem with The Mummy. The garbage script sunk it. Just saw a video where someone said Marvel took a few movies to set up an extended universe, where Universal were trying so desperately to get it established in the first one. Russell Crowe gives the best performance in The Mummy as far as I'm concerned. The movie needed a little camp and he provided it. His character and performance are the only interesting things about the movie.

Mother! is pretty divisive and understandably so. The movie is pure un-restrained artistic expression.

The lack of Justice League nominations is a surprise Since some of the other D.C.E.U. movies were nominated and this one was seen as an improvement... Thank you! I have yet to see the latest POTC movie... but even with On Stranger Tides considered, the performances at least held up. Was the movie really that divisive from what I've been hearing about? 1) Why are you defending a movie you haven't seen? 2) Definitely. However, it doesn't mean you'll either love it or hate it. Maybe you'll find it average.

Vits: But still, you know very well that I was taking about Mother! from that last sentence you quoted. Have you seen Mother! by the way? I’m also wasn't really trying to defend the last movie either. I just found the choices of nominating Depp in those categories a lot melodramatically questionable and facetious at best, even if he is now associated with a franchise that runs out of steam. I've even practically suggested from in my last post that the franchise pretty much went downhill around the fourth movie. Even with the fourth movie personally in mind as being the weaker installment of the first four POTC, the performances from Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, and co still hold up. And from what I’ve heard about the reception of Dead Man Tales No Tales months back, and the few people I know that got to see it, half of the performances were at least decent there too (including Johnny Depp’s). Perhaps it's another sub-par installment like On Stranger Tides. Perhaps it's in between. More power to you then regarding your thoughts on DMTNT...

From what I've seen the razzies tend to nominate people for 'worst actor' regardless if their performance was actually bad or not. They simply nominate them just because they were in a sucky movie, and not really because of the actual performances themselves. POTC 5 had it's problems, but it certainly wasn't because of the film's performances. If anything they were the highlights of the film imo.

That's what I generally kinda figured out with the Razzies too.... The performances so far have always been the highlights of that movie series. I would even rather rewatch the latter sequels of POTC than the Transformers sequels.

I just found the choices of nominating Depp in those categories a lot melodramatically questionable and facetious at best 1) Whenever I quote someone in a forum, I delete the parts from the post that I'm not answering to. It saves space. I know that you were talking about MOTHER. I saw it and I gave it an 8/10. 2) But it's strange to think that way if you haven't even seen the movie. Of course that you can think whatever you want, but you didn't just think that; you posted it in a forum. Of course someone had to reply to it. From what I've seen the razzies tend to nominate people for 'worst actor' regardless if their performance was actually bad or not. POTC 5 had it's problems, but it certainly wasn't because of the film's performances. If anything they were the highlights of the film imo. I'm confused. You end your post with "in my humble opinion," yet the rest of the post is you saying your opinion as if it was a fact. If you like the performances nominated, no problem, but that doesn't automatically mean they're good. If most voters voted for them, it's because we didn't like them.

Kubrick was nominated for a Razzie and that film (The Shining) is considered a classic. Shows the Razzies have always been an attention-craving joke.

WORST ACTRESS Jennifer Lawrence / mother! WORST SUPPORTING ACTOR Javier Bardem / mother! Yeah, it's beyond retarded to nominate Mother!

You can't completely blame the Razzies for that. Not to mention that there were a lot less voters in 1980.
