I saw increased talk of Handegg over some match last night and that Brady feller was coming up, generally respected as I know and seen as being talented and successful.
Who is he equal to in other sports? In terms of perception of his ability, successful trophies at the biggest stage (Superbowl for him I guess), long career. Kobe Brant, Cristiano Ronaldo,Roger Federer?

Jordan.
Whereas basketball does not have a traditional "most important position," it certainly has a most important role: scorer. Jordan exceeded everyone in his sport at this role. Brady exceeds everyone at the most important position in his sport.
Jordan won six. Brady is about to win six.
Jordan was clutch. Brady is clutch.
But the most important thing Jordan had was an indefatigable desire to win. As does Brady.

Depending on what side of the particular argument you're on, you could say either Jordan or Lance Armstrong. I'll say a cross between Michael Jordan and Martin Brodeur.

The question should be : Who in other sports is equal to Tom Brady?
One stat jumped out at me this morning ... TB has been the starter for the Patriots for 16 seasons*. 8 of those seasons he has been Super Bowl bound.
Super Bowl. Half of his career. Extraordinary. ... and he's still going!
* excluding the season he was out with a torn ACL.

Still nowhere close to the great ones in other sports, such as:
Yogi Berra - been to 14 World Series in 19 seasons (73.7% of his career) Joe DiMaggio - been to 10 World Series in 13 seasons (76.9% of his career) Magic Johnson - been to 9 NBA Finals in 12 seasons (75% of his career) Mickey Mantle - been to 12 World Series in 18 seasons (66.7% of his career)
And they didn't cheat to make it to the championship round like Brady cheated.

Half of his career as a starter has ended with a Super Bowl appearance. Bonkers.

Tiger Woods. Both cheated and got away with it and their fawning no life fans still eagerly lick their buttholes.

What, no Bill Russell? 11 titles in 13 years (84.6%)

What, no Bill Russell? 11 titles in 13 years (84.6%) Notice there are no other football players on his list? And everyone else on that list played with loaded teams filled with Hall of Famers. Tell me how many Hall of Fame teammates Brady has had.

Some people believe that the earth is flat, is 6,000 years old and is the center of the solar system. Those people have the same level of credibility.

The point of the comparison was that some people believe Tom Brady has been so successful only because he cheats. Some people believe that the earth is flat, is 6,000 years old and is the center of the solar system. Those people have the same level of credibility. Just to clarify, I was just explaining to our German friend why the previous poster made a reference to Lance Armstrong. I certainly do not share those beliefs (not that I would know one way or the other, seeing as how I don't think I have ever watched a single game of American Football in its entirety).
