Here Come Mr Jordan (1941) Romantic comedy. A guardian angel pulls Joe Pendleton, a boxer, from a plane crash, assuming it would be fatal. Later it is discovered that Joe would have survived the crash and gone on to become boxing world champion. The search is on to find Joe a suitable body to live out the rest of his life. Wonderful performances from Robert Montgomery, Claude Rains and Evelyn Keyes. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Here_Comes_Mr._Jordan

LES MISERABLES!
*Based on a monumental novel and social commentary of the day, by Victor Hugo *Has the provenance of early non-musical versions ( from Frederic March to Gerard Depardieu to Liam Neeson, among the more famous ones)
*Being both a theatre and a film fan, the film adaptation of 2012 is my best-liked interpretation of the story of Jean Valjean, Inspecteur Javert, Fantine, Marius, Cosette, Eponine and the Thenardiers!
*Oustanding dramatic musical which has universal acclaim! Musical score by Boublil, Schonberg and Kretzmer. *Very strong cast ( Jackman, Crowe, Hathaway, Redmayne, Seyfried, Barks, Tveit, Baron-Cohen and Bonham-Carter)! *Oscar-winning director Tom Hooper! *Support cast from London's West End talent
It made me cry! For sheer dramatic beauty, masterful storytelling, and beautiful musical score!

Nope. i honestly don't know how someone could name a clear cut favorite after they have seen plenty of movies.
basically there are 196 movies currently i consider my favorite movies (i.e. all movies i scored a 7 or higher) and there are ten movies i gave a 10/10 and it would be just too difficult to narrow down to only ONE movie from those ten movies.
with that said, while i don't have anything clear cut, if i have to name one movie to sorta play along with the topic ill go with... Road to Perdition (2002) as i can say that's my #1 movie in terms of cinematography/enjoyment combination as it blends cinematography/score and moments in the movie really well. but in terms of my #1 movie straight up, it's hard to say, but it's in the running.
p.s. i just noticed the member 'sariz' is here who i know from IMDb because of her like of The Thomas Crown Affair (1999).

Yes, these are all from the 80s.
Midnight Run - Best mismatched buddy movie. Very underrated performances from Robert De Niro and Charles Grodin.
Brazil - My favorite dystopian society movie. Jonathan Pryce gives a very nuanced performance in a film that's even more relevant today.
Manhunter - Quintessential serial killer psychological thriler. The cinematography and soundtrack just make this movie gorgeous to look at and listen to.

No, but I do have a list of favorites. It's just too hard to pick one definitive favorite from that list...however, I do usually find myself listing A Fish Called Wanda first or at the top of the list.

It's a hard pick because there are so many great films out there but I'm curious if anyone out there can give us their absolute favorite film of all time. This is not a snob list so anyone can name their top 3 favorite films because I know everyone has sentimental attachment to certain films. Since this thread is for absolute favorite (singular) I will resist listing every movie I can think of which I like a lot. My personal favorite is Hitchcock's Vertigo, and my fondness for it is personal enough that I can't readily know why it's my all-time favorite movie. The first time I saw it was on TV, Saturday Night at the Movies, with my parents. My subliminal attachment to the movie is an attachment to my parents and the fact that they'd watch movies with me, or rather they wanted me to see movies which meant something to them. I think it was Dad's idea to let me watch the movie. He was big on the arts, music, movies, you name it, and he always wanted my sisses and me to appreciate them, too. I do suspect that he hadn't been prepared for Vertigo's intensity - Mom's reaction to the movie's ending was scary to me - or he might've reconsidered letting me watch it, but nobody's perfect. We watched Rear Window on TV together, too. I'm a major Hitchcock fan due to my parents - God bless and thank them. Vertigo is a good choice for anyone for all-time favorite. It's compelling, beyond strange, subtly surreal, unclassifiable. It connects in not only fans' minds Americana (Jimmy Stewart) with the bizarre, the spiritual, the supernatural. I think most people don't realize that Vertigo is a ghost story. It's Jimmy Stewart's only horror movie. Vertigo is also the strangest love story ever as the protagonist's love interest never actually exists more than as a suggestion.
