It's hard to choose a favorite among so many great films. But American Psycho is one of the best, most powerful films ever written about self-preservation and dignity. Its universal message crosses all boundaries and instills one with the hope that it's not too late to better ourselves. Since, metamorpheus, it's impossible in this world we live in to empathize with others, we can always empathize with ourselves. It's an important message. Crucial, really. And it's beautifully stated on the film. Oh, come on Times Up, there are a lot more important problems than self-preservation and dignity to worry about.

I used to think so, but these days I'm not so sure. My top 5 are always shifting around and I'm not sure any particular film is the true #1 anymore.

The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938)It is by far my #1 favorite film of all time. It never fails to entertain - I have watched it dozens of times with my children. They still say “to the tables, everybody, and stuff yourselves!”
Already a legend in its own time, this is the ultimate adventure of the triumph of good over evil, and is still inspirational to many films to this day.
It has everything one could ask for in a classic movie: drama, action, suspense, and comedy; heroes, villains and a damsel in distress; romance and betrayal; wonderful dialogue, beautiful costumes and scenery; accompanied by a rousing Korngold score and all shot in glorious Technicolor!

Blade Runner (1982)
Both excited and nervous in anticipation of the second installment due out in June this year.

I have two main difficulties in selecting ONE favorite film. One: my taste changes from time to time, and what I may choose as #1 Favorite in June might very well be replaced in December. Two: I have too great a tendency to categorize and compartmentalize. Let's say I chose Gone With the Wind. Well, I'd be likely to say, that's okay for dramas, but what about comedies? So I'd have to name a favorite comedy (e.g., Some Like It Hot). But that's not nearly all. I couldn't possibly list SLIH or GWTW without saying, okay, those two are live action, but what about my favorite animated feature? I simply couldn't leave out Beauty and the Beast (1991)...but that's only counting films from the Disney Renaissance. What about other animated features, like...well, by now you see why I couldn't pick just one movie, forever and forever, world without end, amen. But I still enjoy scrolling through this topic and checking out other posters' favorites.

For years my favorite movie was "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back", but when I saw "The Fellowship of the Ring" it dethroned the Empire for me. Third place usually changes, so for today it is:
"The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back" "North By Northwest"

Return to Oz. Fell in love with it at the age of 5 and will never get sick of it.

Tootsie. I have never seen anything else that is so hysterical and well-made at the same time.
