Other Brandos:
"Julius Caesar" was the first Brando film I ever saw. It was also my first Shakespearian experience. I had never heard of Caesar or Shakespeare or Brando at the time and according to my ancient notebook, I thought it was a "pretty good" film.
"Teahouse of the August Moon" was a fun story and I enjoyed Brando's performance. My favorite actor of that era was in it and I saw EVERY current Glenn Ford film.
"Guys and Dolls". Great songs. Enjoyable performances. Brando does quite well as Skye and seemed to be having a good time.
"The Wild One". Somewhat elderly appearing "juvenile" delinquents on motorcycles. Lee Marvin almost steals the show.
"The Freshman". He really seemed to be getting a kick out of spoofing himself in this one plus it was a funny, silly, park your brain at the door film.
"The Men" what a Great film Debut.
Mostly he was best before he started portraying "Marlon Brando" and being bored and over-paid.

Mostly he was best before he started portraying "Marlon Brando" and being bored and over-paid. There is a somewhat more recent thread about Brando commenting that Bogart and Gable played themselves and it brought this ancient thread to mind.

He had a terrific first decade...
THE MEN
GUYS AND DOLLS - he was surprisingly effective - even more when you think he was up against a Musical "giant" like Sinatra.
THE CHASE -
REFLECTIONS IN A GOLDEN EYE (4th choice after Clift, Burton & Marvin)
THE TEAHOUSE OF THE AUGUST MOON - I know these days he'd get flamed for cultural appropriation but I think he makes a splendid Japanese.
HMs JULIUS CAESAR; THE YOUNG LIONS; THE WILD ONE; SUPERMAN
