Here's what it would look like with the traditional colors, and it definitely looks better.

harpospoke Also, Fox made Daredevil, the first two F4 movies, and X-Men: First Class which had comic inspired costumes.

Yeah the colors and suit is taken straight from Mar-Vel costume, as Hand Banana pointed out.
I actually think it's pretty cool and it will obviously end up evolving into a Carol's iconic Captain Marvel look.
I'm personally pumped for the movie and hope that Marvel will keep introducing new characters for the big screen!

Ehhhh I don't like it is what I would say but these costumes always look a lot better in the movies themselves.
Hopefully it's not her final costume either.

Once you get past the colors, she does look good in the suit.
The fact that she is seen wearing the prototype version of her more famous outfit gives us some possible insight into the story.
As much as I despise fan speculation and theory crafting, I suspect that after the accident that endows her with her powers, Danvers is quickly conscripted into the Kree army to help fight their war against the Skrulls (the greater evil of the two warring interstellar powers). That would explain why she's wearing a standard issue Kree uniform.
She likely didn't age in the intervening years between the early 1990s and 2019 due to the relativistic nature of space travel at FTL speeds. The time it takes to get back and forth from our Milky Way galaxy to the Large Magellanic Cloud, where the Kree homeworld is situated, could have taken decades even at FTL velocity (assuming the Kree didn't have jump gate tech in the 90s).
The Magellanic Cloud is located 50 kiloparsecs from the Milky Way galaxy (that's about 160,000 light-years if your counting).
Man, this movie is going to be fucking rad.

WTH is she wearing? I hope that isn't her superhero costume. I'm sick of the so called superhero costumes made out of layers of leather and rubber with knee pads and shin guards. Marvel, DC, Fox, they're all guilty of this. The CW shows are the worst but most of the movies aren't much better. She's not supposed to be a motocross driver. She might as well be wearing a snow suit. UGH SMH! What do you WANT it to look like? The tights like Reeve's Superman look dated and silly on a real body. The 90's Flash tried a version that always looked strange. This looks like an outfit that a person running into battle might actually wear.

I guarantee that isn't the suit she has by the end of the film. And stills from the set always look terrible. Always. Calm down, folks.

Here's what it would look like with the traditional colors, and it definitely looks better. Even with the colors it doesn't look right. It's too bulky looking. Superman looks fine in tights both in the DCEU and in the Donner films. Supergirl looks fine in tights on CW. Spider-man looks fine in tights. These are fantasy superhero films, not war documentaries. If she was going into actual real world battle she would need a kevlar helmet and an individual body armor vest. With modern materials it's more easy than ever to get the comic book costume look correct. Just look at the uniforms that olympic gymnasts wear. They look more like superheroes than half the characters in CBMs. Heck even cosplayers can do a better job than this.

Is that her Captain Marvel costume or her pre-Captain Marvel costume (Isn't she a test pilot or something in the new film). Either way, nothing really bothers me about it.

The 90's Flash tried a version that always looked strange. This looks like an outfit that a person running into battle might actually wear. You do know we've come a long way from the 90's right? If they wanted to go for a full bodysuit look then they could have made it textured and more form-fitting like the costumes of Black Panther or Hela or Spiderman or DCEU Superman or DCEU Batman. If they wanted to go for body armor then they could have put individual armored segments into it with more diversity of material like Thor's or Wonder Woman's costumes, instead of making it a single suit with padding here and there. If they wanted to go for a middle-ground of bodysuit and armor they could have at least put better, more tasteful contoured padding into it with better details and materials like Captain America's or Deadpool's costumes. Bottom line is, this costume design looks dated, the kind you'd have expected from superhero movies back in the early 2000's. Now obviously it might get better once they put CGI and all into it so I'm a bit hopeful. But taken as it is even CW Supergirl's costume is miles ahead of this.

But then they set up the shots carefully and everything looks fine. Check these out:

Thanks for sharing. I am looking forward to seeing it and hopefully if they do make sequels they play out some of the 'Ms Marvel' storylines 'cause while I like Captain Marvel most of Carol's best stories took place when she was Ms Marvel.
