I'm always reminded of the guy from Airwolf who was touted by many as the next James Dean. People really thought that Jan-Michael Vincent was destined for great things but, of course, it never happened. I gather things aren't too great or him at the moment.
Anyway, who else didn't live up to expectations?

Josh Hartnett . He turned down both Batman & Superman . what a fucking idiot lol . I think he's a pretty good actor when given the right role (obviously terrible in Pearl Harbor but pretty damn good in Black Hawk Down, The Virgin Suicides, 30 Days of Night and Penny Dreadful ) . He at least admits that he fucked up by saying no to Nolan .

I think Donnie Wahlberg should have his brother's career. He's a way better actor. It's like Casey and Ben, only Casey was eventually recognized.

Timothy Bottoms seemed destined for greatness after The Last Picture Show.
I expected more from Hailee Steinfeld after True Grit. Maybe more will come though.
Alicia Silverstone had a PR machine behind her, but not much else.

Alicia Silverstone had a PR machine behind her, but not much else. I think Steinfeld is on the cusp of a turnaround. Silverstone can thank Batman & Robin for her career tanking. Chris O'Donnell too and he had far more roles racked up by that time.

Is it good or bad that I don’t know any of these people? Good, because it proves the point of the thread.

Guy Pearce. He hasn't had a bad career by any means, but I always felt like he should've been right up there with the best of the A-listers.

Emily Lloyd looked like she was on the brink of stardom, and then things seemed to fall apart for her. After seeing Real Genius I was looking forward to seeing more of Michelle Meyrink...but she quit acting.

I don't know why people keep expecting Hailee Steinfeld to be much bigger than she already is. She is only 21 and not a part of any major franchise, yet she's doing fine, even got a GG nom last year.
Anyway, I thought Arnie Hammer would be a bigger deal after TSN, although he's doing fine.
