Which film has the better music score?

Batman. Superman is the better movie, but that Batman score pumps me up.

Superman, just watched the three-hour extended version a few nights ago and was reminded what an epic score Williams wrote. Don't get me wrong, I loved Elfman's work on Batman, but I'd put Williams' score for Supes among his very best.

It's just too bad neither film is as good as their orchestral scores.

I really don't even like the original Superman movie anymore.
It's just too old looking.

To be clear, there's movies with crappy effects that I do continue liking (Such as Superman II) which is why it's telling me that I didn't particularly care for the story either. I think everything leading up to him becoming Superman is great, him being Superman not so much.

I actually missed the question.
That's a tougher choice, but I would go with Batman.
I think Williams is able to create some timeless pieces to a score and Superman certainly has a more memorable hook to it, but the overall score to Batman is great and I love that Elfman included a snippet of Prince's Scandalous in one of the tracks.

I'd say Superman, since I watched it in a cinema with great sound, and hearing that John Williams score pumping hard against the audience and all those names of actors that I know about swisching by. Great youth memories.
I don't have that connection with Batman, but I liked the modernized version of the old Neal Hefti theme.

Looking at the main themes, I pick Superman's since it is so iconic, but the Batman score gives me chills every time.
As far as the films themselves go, I like both but I prefer Batman (1989).

I love both, but the problem with Superman is that it sounds too close to Star Wars. Anyone (who didn't know and has never heard of John Wiliams) listening to both would easily recognize them probably being made by the same person.

I quite agree, RiP, IMDb. As a kid, without ever hearing about Williams or knowing anything about filmmaking, I thought that both scores were really similar and wondered if the same person came up with them. Actually, I felt that way about directors, too; I learned fairly quickly that I liked movies made by these strange figures “Frank Capra” and “Alfred Hitchcock,” while knowing nothing much about either one.

On more than one occasion, I've tried humming or whistling the Superman theme only to realize I'm doing the SW theme instead.
