I've always liked movies which feature Burton. Doctor Faustus (1967) is a favorite even though it's not a great film. But Burton practically carries the whole movie with his soliloquies. I've always loved the way he speaks. When I was a child I would try to imitate his style (poorly). That's why Bill Murray's sloppy rendition in Scrooged still cracks me up.

I heard he was really nice in real life.

I heard he was really nice in real life. Burton or Murray? I've heard that about Murray, but I don't know much about Burton except that he was a serious alcoholic.

That's cool. After all the bad things we hear about celebs, it's good to hear something good for a change.

I am a big fan of Richard Burton. It always saddens me that he never won an Oscar.

Big fan too. Yes, he was nominated 7 times and never won.

Everything I've seen him in, he's been great. He should've won a damn Oscar for Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

Big fan, he had a great voice, and was a good actor--The Robe, Virginia Woolf, and those dumb movies he made with Liz Taylor

I heard he was really nice in real life. He had a good sense of humor about himself, too. When he was playing Hamlet and being directed by John Gielgud, Gielgud suggested that Burton put his head in Ophelia's lap during the play-within-a-play scene. Burton quipped, "I don't know. That might give me a sexy reputation." Gielgud replied dryly, "I could put in a program note." - from a biography of John Gielgud
