Excellent movie, but slow at times.

I haven't seen it yet, but I heard some critique about it the other day and how it was all just a bit too easy and accepting of the relationship, without much conflict.
It will be interesting to see it soon, to compare it to the British GOD'S OWN COUNTRY-17', which I thought was excellent. A film about intimacy on many levels. This film was very frank in it's sexual depiction of a homosexual relationship, and the film didn't touch on any homophobic attitudes at all and was a contemporary setting. It all worked beautifully though and it was more interested in the small town racist attitudes of the locals.

Excellent movie, but slow at times. While I did also find it slow during my first viewing of this movie, I enjoyed it a lot more during the second time. Strange how that works. Once the anticipation of "whats going to happen next" is over, the viewing experience changes for me. For the better, even if only in great movies like this one.

It was beautifully filmed for a start. It was slow, but a rewarding viewing experience, layered and I never found it slow boring. I took me a while to get into the characters and start to like them, but half way through, when the relationship takes off, then the change in them happens. I noticed this more in Oliver's character, who at the start, just came across as arrogant and conceited. I am looking forward to seeing this one again. Needs to be seen on the big screen, due to all the natural beauty on display.
It needs to be viewed with an open mind, but I can see this film being a real keeper for discerning filmgoers.

Have you seen GOD'S OWN COUNTRY Nora, which was released later last year?

Have you seen GOD'S OWN COUNTRY Nora, which was released later last year? I have not. I take it you recommend seeing it? Absolutely! It is filmed in Northern England and uses it's landscapes to the same effect CMBYN does. The film doesn't heavily rely on dialog and is beautiful and hot and sensual. 2 masculine men who work on a farm and just happen to like other dudes. One is an immigrant, and they form an intimate relationship with each other and one teaches the other about intimacy, and on many different levels. 2 awesome gay themed love stories from 2017, and both extremely intelligent. I found it more moving than CMBYN. God's Own Country linkIt's very moving and affecting same sex love story, that is refreshing, because it doesn't touch on homophobia either. CMBYN doesn't do this either. Although, one can sense the trepidation Oliver felt about it. Elio was more comfortable with himself.
