Any good? Can't remember if this is the one I think I saw parts of years ago and hated, or not. I liked the book.

I thought it was ok--different. Has that Michael Mann 80s synth music vibe.
The creature fx (where it is concealed in a cloud of smoke) was pretty cool IMO and still looks good. When it appears in its rubbery glory, not so much.

I saw it a long time ago and I don't remember it very well. I do remember thinking it was pretty good at the time I saw it. However, I've since read on Wikipedia that the movie had a very troubled production. |

I wasn't too fond of it, it just seemed very dreary. The book was so much better.

The more I see it, the more I seem to like it. There are issues, no questions about it, but Mann's use of imagery hand to hand with the Tangerine Dream's score presents an immersive dark, dreamlike vibe that's hard to shake. The most disappointing thing is reading what this problematic production could've been.
Also the novel is one of my favourites, such a good read and even the graphic novel (written also by F. Paul Wilson) is worth a look for fans.

Saw it once on vhs in the 80's. Not that impressed and it just wasn't appealing. Perhaps may need to view again in a better format.
