well, this is just what i can remember... Super Mario bros IS like donkey king 2.0. [and donkey kong is like chutes and ladders with a gorilla throwing barrels at you.]
'you' look just. like. Mario.
the princess looks just. like. the princess from Mario.
someone stole said princess and the object of the game is to save her.
the donkey [why the hell is called donkey kong when no ass is in this?] is a gorilla who bears a striking resemblance, although more realistic looking than King Koopa or Bowzer.
donkey kong had different levels but they all kind of bled together after a while. the good thing about super Mario brothers is that he had a bro, luigi, it had more natural surroundings like the ocean, lakes and ponds you could swim across, sewers you could climb down, money to collect, lives and powers to gain, the cutest little turtle anyone has ever seen or ridden, all sorts of other stuff.

I remember eating Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr. cereal as a kid.
DK was corn based like Cap'n Crunch and was all barrels. Wasn't quite as sweet as CC and I liked DK better because of that.
DKJR was fruit flavored and had banana shapes...and that is all I remember other than it was good.
I vaguely remember trying a Super Mario cereal once; did not like it.

Thanks for sharing. I love Mario and Donkey Kong games and over the years I have owned a lot of them on Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Nintendo Gamecube, Nintendo Wii, Wii U, Switch, Gameboy, Gameboy Advance, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3D etc and I would love to see a mix up of the 'Super Mario Bros/World' and 'Donkey Kong Country' games. 'Super Mario World' and 'Donkey Kong Country 2' are two of my favourite 2D games and I still enjoy playing them now.
