Indiana Jones IS the fossil! He should play a mummified Indy and others have to find him and put him to rest.
Remember when Young Indiana Jones started they had a really old guy portraying Indiana Jones (with an eye patch and cat)?
Hollywood may not be digging up a corpse for ideas but it has definitely set up shop next to a retirement home.
Bringing back Nick Castle for another Halloween sequel universe is another ridiculous marketing hook.
"I only did it because of the script."

That is true. I actually liked LaBeouf in KotCS too. But given his recent behavior and racist remarks, I'm positive they'll write him out of the series. Probably with some throwaway line that he's at school or something.

They should get either Christoph Waltz or Liam Neeson to Play the Main Villain in it.

Leaving aside the quality of the overall films, I thought Ford was good in Indy 4, The Force Awakens and Blade Runner 2049. He can certainly pull off the tough older guy part, but Indy 4 was a decade ago and in TFA and Blade Runner 2, he was part of an ensemble cast. It's a different situation for Indy 5 where he's supposed to be the lead in an action adventure film. I hope they can get a good script and work in Indy's advancing years as an integral part of the story. If they do it right, they can give us one last great adventure.

Ugh, I don't know. But maybe they felt like the 4th ruined the legacy & have something to tell that's better?

They waited too long to do this imo. They should've made this 5 years ago at the very least.
Ford is really starting to show his age. He looked really old in Blade Runner 2049.
The only way I see this working is having a father/son duo like in the Last Crusade.
Either that or they recast Ford as Indy which will be a very difficult task.

I think, if anything, Ford will play a mentor in the film for the most part. The father/son thing had already been done in Last Crusade so they shouldn't rehash that.

When's it going to take place, the 1970s? Maybe he'll be looking for DB Cooper's haul.

As much as I love and respect Ford, I really think the series should be rebooted. I'm not a huge fan of the post World War II adventure films. The setting in the 1900's to 1930's just works better. The world still had many hidden secrets that were to be discovered. Plus, the Soviets or Communist Chinese just aren't as good villains as Imperial Germans (pre World War I) or Nazis.
I'd almost rather have the movie follow a narrative course where Ford recounts his days with Ravenwood during his time at the University of Chicago casting a younger actor.

I'm against the idea of any more Indy movies in principle, but I'd rather have a prequel with a new actor than a sequel that takes place decades after WWII at this point.

I've said this before in another thread, but setting an Indy film in the late 60's or early 70's just feels...wrong. The earlier films had a unique historical backdrop to fit in a serial adventure story: Temple of Doom - British colonial India with a resurgence of the Thuggees Raiders & Crusade - Fighting the Nazis pre-WWII Crystal Skull - Dealing with Soviets during the Red Scare and the era of Roswell/Area 51/alien stories. I just feel like there's no big historical events post-1965 that you can fit in alongside an old-school action-adventure character.

I think you could come up with a story, I just think the character wouldn't fit the times. As you said, he's a creature of the first half of the 20th century. I don't want an Indy movie featuring 1970s tech. It just feels wrong.
