I only saw 20 mins of the original. Couldn't get past the stupidity of the suits being a two-person operation.

It looks like shit so not a surprise. lol agreed. and I wish Hollywood would give up on Scott Eastwood (easily, one of the worst cases of nepotism I've ever seen. He sucks)

The first one sucked, and its been way too long for a sequel.

The first film was mediocre at best so it's no surprise that a sequel that not many people would have wanted is going to fail.

With no involvement from Del Toro i have no reason to care about it, not even at home

With no involvement from Del Toro i have no reason to care about it, not even at home Exactly. The first one isn’t particularly a great film (although I did enjoy it quite a bit) but what it had going for it is that the visuals, thanks to del Toro, were so jaw dropping and the scenery, and lighting etc... were great as well. This one literally just looks like a bunch of toys fighting in broad daylight completely devoid of del Toro’s touch.

Indeed, it's a good popcorn film in the purest sense like Independence Day (the closest comparison I can muster). I'm still in shock that it didn't score a nod for Best Visual effects.

Another(non-Star Wars)Boyega bomb--movie has a much worse cast than the original film, which I enjoyed very much

Thats a bummer. I couldn't finish the first Pacific Rim in one sitting either. Took me more than 3 days to finish the movie if i remember correctly. Still, the whole concept of using oversized mech suit robots as their defense squad seemed ridiculous. It's like recruiting xbox kinect players to protect the world. And every kid could have a robot to root for. Great way to merchandise government property.

I wanted to like Pacific Rim so much, since it sounded like a great film, and then I saw it, and wow... was it overrated. It was as badly overblown as a Transformers movie (hell, I even thought it was a Transformers movie), and the slapstick comedy brought it down in a big way.

The first was mediocre, and while I never find it boring, I have no interest in seeing the sequel.

Oy, he came this ****ing close to doing Justice League Dark which is perfect for GDT. Now I hear Alex Garland is throwing his hat in the ring for Swamp Thign or something like that. I've noticed lately how for the DCEU, WB seems to be relying on or at least tapping horror and/or genre filmmakers instead of action directors for the most part now as it is.
