Your hero lives on but he will owe his life to Rey. Would you rather he be dead?

Save Luke, definitely. Even if people would find it degrading to Luke's character(which they shouldn't), at the very least there is potential for "redemption" in subsequent films.

Ooh this is a hard one. Luke dies having accomplished zilch in his entire life. Luke is saved but probably gets sidelined again to glorify the unstoppable Rey and he'll probably not be allowed to do anything cool again because Rey will do that instead.

In all fairness he did get to see a lot of cool stuff happen while he stood there.

She can embrace the Dark Side without consequence. She mastered lightsaber combat up to the level of Kylo and Praetorians just by doing some katas and cutting a rock. She knows exactly how to lecture Luke Skywalker and shame him or motivate him. She had an instant Force Bond with Kylo while Luke never had one with Leia. And he watched her steal the Falcon with Chewbacca and R2 hostage to her whims.

If I had my way, I'd do this. Have Luke get saved by Rey somehow. And then in Ep IX, he confronts the students that Kylo Ren stole from him years ago. Maybe have them be expys of the Legends Jedi. A certain twin brother and sister for example.

Honestly?
I'd be okay with Rey saves Luke, but I have one condition:
Luke has a bigger role in Episode 9 and gets a better send off.

Rey as she's currently characterized, or a new version? As she is, I'd rather he be dead, this isn't the same franchise. Starting over, if she weren't this god mode character, sure, she can save him.

If Rey saved Luke's life, I'd be afraid to go on the internet for 6 months.

I would rather the Disney Wars movies didn't exist at all.

You wanna know what Tarpals wants? Hims wants to see in episode IX Rey and Kylo get swarmed by by rabid, killer Porgs and eaten alive. Then Luke Skywalker appears and reveals that him expiring and becoming one with da Force was just a hologram. He gets R2D2 and Chewbacca and goes to Coruscant and reopens da Jedi academy. Da First Order and da Resistance Rebellion all accidentally kill themselves in some of da most silly ways imaginable tryin to kill each other.
In da epilogue Luke marries a hot Twi'lek dancer turned Jedi apprentice. Da galaxy elects Luke as da new Jedi king of da galaxy. The end.

Bit of an unfair poll, as it presupposes that Luke's death is pointless, which (IMO) it is not.

Neither. I prefer Luke doesn't die from... wait... what did he die from again? I guess it was exertion. He wasn't really there so I don't know what actually killed him. Exertion I suppose. Exertion. (wtf?)

To be just a distraction? at least Luke's death had a bit of a point (stalling enemy) unlike Han's who just served as disposable dark side fodder in conjunction with the most poorly thought-through redemption plan ever. ![](https://s26.postimg.org/hgrq6g7tl/misc2.gif)
