But the same people use both boards.

That’s because the most active DC fans prefer talking about how much they hate MCU than anything else.

But the same people use both boards. That’s primarily due to the artificial boosters.

So basically this board is more popular. so basically this forum is notorious for having a lot more mcu fanboys using the DC board for soiling, trolling and bullying while most DC fans have long migrated to the arrowboard or other forums. That simple.

This was already brought up before. The MCU is a more active series so obviously it would get more discussion. The MCU had three movies last year, there's 3 more movies within the next six months, there's the Netflix TV shows, Agents of Shield, The Runaways, Inhumans and soon Cloak and Dagger.
All the DCEU has had was two movies last year and then there's another movie which is at the very end of the year. There's not nearly as much going on that stirs discussion.

On paper, Wonder Woman and Justice League were bigger than any of the MCU movies released in 2017. That's irrelevant, movies will get a surge of interest in the month, maybe two, after release and will then die down. That's what happened here when Justice League released. The MCU has had a constant stream of content coming in, especially in the latter half of the year when Spider-man Homecoming came out, then The Defenders, then Inhumans, then the Black Panther trailer, then Thor Ragnarok, then The Punisher, then the Runaways, then the Infinity War trailer, then Agents of Shield started back up, then the Ant-man and the Wasp trailer and now Black Panther is coming out. After that Jessica Jones comes out in March and Infinity War is the end of April for most the world. It doesn't matter what movies are bigger, theres a lot less to be said.

None of this is necessarily true. The Dark Knight board was active for years after the flick came out.

TDK was a generation defining pop culture event not unlike Star Wars or Batman 89 or Superman, it still sits at 4 in the top 250 and is regarded and hailed as masterpiece outside the genre and fanbase. MCU films or the MCU as such are not even close.

But it was an equally (or almost equally) big success from a pop culture standpoint, I feel. It really cemented the Avengers and the MCU as sort of the major league/gold standard of superhero movies for a certain generation of fans and even many older ones that could be argued to be comparable to TDK's achievements in pop culture, which I agree were massive. It was everywhere in '08.

The two do not correlate necessarily. Avatar may have had a similar impact as TDK inicially, but it sank into infamy as it was just hot-air style over substance. Nice Kierkegaard quote though. Nails it.

Nails it. I think I'm prolly overstating Avengers' success and you're possibly understating it, but we definitely agree on Avatar. I don't know anybody who's excited about the three or four or eleven or however-many sequels they're making.
