Flyers beat up on a beat up Penguins squad. Still not ready to count Crosby out of the Art Ross because he's the type of player who could easily get a 4 point game at any time.

Nothing against Sid, but he's not winning the Ross with the Penguins' current lineup. Sheary down tonight too. By the time we get to the playoffs his wingers might be Dominik Simon and Josh Archibald.
I'm not the most optimistic Pens fan anyway, but it's hard to like where the Pens are right now looking at a potential Columbus series.
I have no idea who's going to be back by then, and even if everyone is back, expecting a bunch of guys who haven't played much hockey together the past few months to click against the Vezina favorite seems like a tall order.

I feel like Malkin would be playing already if this were the playoffs, no?

Calder thoughts? It's really tough. Laine has had the rockstar rookie season, the best stats so far, the multiple hat tricks, as an 18 year old winger with less games played than Matthews. On the other hand he plays with Ehlers and Scheifele whereas Matthews plays with Brown and Hyman and has the same numbers, more goals discounting empty netters... and Werenski is looking at 50 points as a rookie defenseman. You could make arguments for Marner and Tkachuk, too.

Such a good class this year. Nylander, too. Plus guys like Murray and Skjei who aren't even in the conversation.
I'm still leaning Matthews. It's really close though with him and Laine. The scoring numbers are super close. I have really looked at all the underlying numbers between them, to be honest. I think they favor Matthews, though.
Werenski has been so good as well. Probably had a better year than more than a few former winners.

Nylander has been with Matthews and Hyman for weeks now BTW.
I think he actually leads rookies in scoring since the break.

What a comeback win for the Bolts! That OT was nuts.

Bolts might just make it if the Bruins continue their annual choke job down the stretch.
What's the Wednesday Rivalry game this week? Of course, Chicago/Pittsburgh! Truly bitter enemies.

Ovechkin scores a hat trick in Boudreau's yard, Matthews breaks Toronto's rookie goal record, and Oilers clinch the playoffs for the first time since 2006. Fun night.

Detroit's playoff streak is also officially at an end.

Thinking about my CHI/MIN/SJ being the only Western contenders post. Things sure change in a hurry. The latter two are in a tailspin.

I'm thinking about Beardy's preseason prediction of the Devils comfortably making the playoffs with Zacha finishing top 5 in Calder voting. Then again I predicted the Lightning winning their division and the Cup.

Just had Milbury sound off on Flames/Kings tonight and how they should handle Tkachuk's elbow... I think the only time I ever agree with him is when he discusses violence. Does that make me a bad fan?
Also, just earned a trophy. The fuck is that? Mine now, though.

Add Kucherov to the list of unavailable Bolts tonight. I'll be amazed if Detroit don't win.
Also, ouch Islanders. No playoffs for them.

Drouin and Hedman will do nicely, though. Also, Red Wings suck.

Neuvirth collapses with no one around... scary stuff. Same thing that happened to Pavelec some years back. Don't remember what the diagnosis was, though.
