The first one was depressing enough. I don't need another round of it. Besides that, how could there possibly be a sequel?

It will be derivative. When is Hollywood going to make a biopic on Mohammad the Great?

I've never seen the original. From what I understand, in the first one, the character of Jesus is brutally tortured, and that is just repulsive to me.

No, but that's only because I almost never go to the theater anymore. I'd definitely watch it on streaming or cable or whatever.

I never did get around to seeing the first movie. Ironic as I used to post on the movie message board on the old IMDB. Though I never posted about the actual movie!
So no, I doubt I will be seeing this one.

But that is an even more iffy and vauge part of the glorified story of Christ. Resurrected from where and then to go where. Gibson's film focused on the persecution and humiliation of Christ in his human form and in a sense, this kept it more believable.

No way Jose!
I wouldn't want to encourage 'them Jesus fellas' ( as my three year old called them, when asked what part she was playing in her kindy nativity play. "I am gunna be one of them Jesus fellas and wearing a T towel on my head"!
She meant Gaspar, Balthasar, and Melchior.

Ill definitely see it at some point. I can say at least that much. the best religious themed movies I have seen... - The Song of Bernadette (1943) (this is also the oldest movie in general that I consider amongst My Favorite Movies) -The Passion of the Christ (2004) and assuming this sequel gets made... that will probably make the list to.
