Recommend me some classic films which run about an hour. Most genres are fine, except for war films and sci-fi (I hate both of those genres intensely). Also, I can't stand films with a political message.
For my purposes the films need to be on DVD/Blu-ray for me to see them. My Blu-Ray player plays DVDs of any region, which might help.
Before anyone asks, foreign films, silent films, TV movies, and animation are all fine with me. Classic documentaries are also acceptable.
I realise this is a very strange question. The films don't need to run exactly an hour, in fact anywhere from 50 minutes to 67 minutes should be fine.

The Hoodlum / Max Nosseck (1951). This cheaply made, 61 minute urban crime film is just about as downbeat as you are going to find. The main character is a career criminal named Vincent Lubeck, played by Lawrence Tierney. Of course, there is a robbery that goes wrong, there are betrayals, and the ending comes at the city dump. This is bleak cheapie about a doomed man in a doomed world.
Black Orchid / Charles Saunders (1953). Dr. John Winnington (Ronald Howard, son of Leslie) is unhappily married to Sophie. After he falls in love with Sophie’s sister, Sophie is murdered and Winnington is the major suspect. British noir-ish mystery. 60 minutes.
I love the mystery and adventure series of the 1930s and ‘40s, most of which run about an hour or so. For example, my favorite Charlie Chan, “Charlie Chan at the Opera” (1936), runs 66 minutes. Any Mr. Moto will also come in between 60 and 70 minutes.

THE NARROW MARGIN (1952) -- tidy Noir at just 72 minutes with usual bad guy Charles McGraw as the cop hero.
You said no war movies, but hoping you will make an exception for John Huston's THE RED BADGE OF COURAGE (1951) with Audie Murphy, at only 69 minutes.

I love Aki Kaurismäki's films. He strips everything down to what is essential. His films contain no "acting", little or no background music, and never overstay their welcome.
The Match Factory Girl (1990) by Aki Kaurismäki (68 minutes) Ariel (1988) by Aki Kaurismäki (78 minutes) Juha (1999) by Aki Kaurismäki (78 minutes) Lights in the Dusk (2006) by Aki Kaurismäki (78 minutes) Manfromplanetx has already recommended "Take Care of Your Scarf, Tatiana"
I know nothing about film technology, but is it coincidence that at least three of his movies time out at 78 mins? Is this to do with reel lengths?
.......................................................
The Ox-Bow Incident (1943) William A Wellman (75 mins) Fonda, Quinn and Dana Andrews.

I think all the Sherlock Holmes films fall in that time frame, also the Falcon series

The Mr. Moto movies with Peter Lorre usually clock between 60 and 70 minutes. And yet they usually have more action, humor, and fun than many a modern blockbuster these days.
