I don't think she was just hanging out on deck, and then just "fell in" to the water...
I'm not saying that it was "murder"...
But, I think someone else was with her, and she was probably distracted, lost her footing or something, and boom... she hurt herself, and then went into the water.
I am sure that someone who was on that boat knows what really happened.
Just out of curiosity...
Why isn't Christopher Walken at least a "Person Of Interest"?
Couldn't he have tried to seduce her or rape her, and then she fought back, and then went in?

Walken isn't a "person of interest" because just about the ONLY thing that every investigation into this incident can agree on is that he was asleep/pretending to be asleep in his cabin, wisely staying out of the way of a crazy-drunk married couple in the throes of a violent argument.
What really happened will probably never be determined. The victim was intoxicated and in an unstable state of mind, the "person of interest" was likewise; and the only witness seems to be altering his account every couple of years to get some kind of publicity out of it.

Its the same scenario as A Place In The Sun: Shelley Winters falls out of the boat by accident, Montgomery Clift won't help her--In Clift's case it was because she was pregnant and low class, would have ruined his life---With Wagner, I'm assuming they were all drunk, He caught her kissing the younger Christopher Walken(her co-star in Brainstorm(1983), they had a big fight--Wood fell off the boat trying to stop the dinghy from making noise, or was trying to leave in the dinghy--Her screams for help were ignored by Wagner, since his inflated ego was destroyed by Natalies betrayal

I think a lot of us "want" Wagner to have killed his wife. Much like the O.J. story, it's a lot more 'sexy' to imagine, and otherwise leaves the 'boring' version, if it REALLY came down to the simple fact that because they had all been drinking quite a bit, Natalie Wood simply slipped while trying to get in the dinghy to get away from the arguing men, hit her head, and ended up drowning in the ocean because nobody saw it happen. SAVE FERRIS

Looking back on how society was at the time, I would think along the lines that Wagner and Walken had a gay affair, she walked in on them, there were an argument where she said she would ruin their reputations, they argued and she fell of the boat and they let her die.

After watching that utterly pointless 48 Hours documentary the other night, I was struck by how, if she fell into the water, no one heard a splash or anything—yet there were (reliable, according to the detectives interviewed) witnesses close enough to place Natalie and Wagner at the stern of the Splendour. That’s a detail I just can’t explain.

DOn't know. But why are they digging this up now? Natalie would have been 80 this year, and the LA cops are now back to considering Wagner a “person of interest” (after supposedly ruling him out 7 years ago).

At the very least he knew she went in the water and did nothing to help her. You got to remember after she went missing Wagner did not report it for hours. And knowing she was afraid of the water he should have reported it immediately. That is unless he wanted her to die.

She was afraid of water, she could not survive, he let her die.

Think about this. If you are on a boat and know your wife is very afraid of the water and she goes missing would any of you wait hours before reporting it. As soon as I knew she was missing I would be screaming at the top of my lungs to get anyone's attention I could. Plus I would tell the captain to call the authorities ASAP.
