tpfkar That's your opinion and I'm not surprised it is, since false attribution is your act. Sure, sure, so why is "fully-developed human", as in what was actually being discussed, "physical attributes, e.g., a fetus basically has the physical attributes of a born human", and explicitly not limited to "adult", which was not being discussed, such a squawking problem? Oh, I just saw this because you've been on ignore since I told you you were on ignore. G'bye!Because: Straw man. Doesn't matter what was being discussed. All that matters is that an argument was falsely attributed to me and then criticized.

tpfkar Of course you won't. We humans share a massively wide vein of right & wrong, and even incarcerate and sometimes kill those who cross it. Babble, babble toil and trabble.Ha, you're evading. Riiight, I'm evading, but you're - "I won't reply to this until you explain how atheists choosing their ethics is anything but arbitrary." And I just specifically delineated "Well, atheists' are based off of empathy, rationality, evidence, and wide agreement." And you protested that we don't have basic wide empathy agreement, and that I need to provide written documentation with civilization sitting right on your head. hair's breadth difference

He already reiterated what was obvious from the abortion conversation that "fully-developed human" did not exclude "newborn" nor "child". You on the other hand persisted with "adult" foo him when you very begrudgingly emitted that it the morality under discussion was completely irrelevant to your squawk even if you could ram your purposeful persistent misinterpretation. Cooljgs, formerly Smithjgs, is a well-practiced liar. Lol. Not once has anyone ever caught me in a lie which is why you are one of the few deemed a liar for saying it. Untrue (or, a lie). When you made this claim a couple of days ago I considered bringing up that I recently caught you in a lie on this board (unsurprisingly, you never responded). But I decided to restrain myself and try to stay on topic. But now (Feb 8) that I've just caught you in another lie (Politics Board, "Judge Says Baker CAN Refuse Gay Wedding") I decided your claim shouldn't go unanswered.
So, whatever lies of yours theoncomingstorm was thinking of, he can count the two more that I can attest to.

You and cash should get a cake together united EDIT: I know what it feels like to be angry. i know i was furious when Russia banned JW's for no reason although I expected some people on here to be in agreement with the decision. You know what helped me? Counting to 10 and praying

Whether they do it or not, do they think they should take care of the elderly and protect and care for children, etc. To treat people how we want to be treated. The places where that starts really breaking down is with Iron/Roman/Early Medieval Age/Period mythology books. Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ.

I would argue that is how all ethics works. Religions are just a way in which a particular group writes down their own "opinions" on ethical matters and then believe they have some objective grounding because they claim they're derived from their chosen deity; but the problem with that is readily identifiable. Take two religions with two different gods/ethical systems: how do you prove which is correct without regard to the way people feel about it? That's not his point. Atheists get to pick and choose what "ethics" they follow and those are almost always dependent on current trends. I did not choose my ethics. I chose one philosophy to follow and its ethics have been written down for thousands of years. I don't get to pick and choose which of the Bible's tenets I follow like it's some kind of salad bar. I know others do, but that's their personally-created confusion, not mine. Any honest Christian dedicates himself to one particular set of ethics. There is a vast difference between that and the very selfish modality of making up personal ethics that suit one's own selfish desires. Gee, Christians really shouldn't do this: That must certainly mean thinking for themselves under the vast array of different circumstances of life. Oh no! That is dangerous thinking. That way madness, excommunication and straight to hell, 'do not pass go'... lies! We atheists wouldn't do that! Sheesh no! We base our ethics on what is fair egalitarian empathetic rational pragmatic kind intelligent apposite knowledgeable appropriate reasonable and sensible. We don't force women to carry to term, malformed babies who will die straight away, we don't force people to have more children than they can afford or get AIDS, we don't vilify homosexuals and minorities or people of 'other' religions, races and ethnicities, we are not condoning and covering up systemic child abuse, we are not wanting laws changed to suit our bigoted agendas.............

Given that Winter has lately called me a "retard" on another thread, justifying it among several other insults before saying he doesn't care - which prompted this exact Jesus invocation from me - one can see why he would need to say this lol. It obviously stung.
Also, as proof of the herd-like mentality of your ilk ( ), you're not the only one who has said it and I wasn't referring specifically to you. It's the go-to crutch of the atheist argument. There is an atheist argument? why wasn't I told? I subscribe to the non-existent atheist bulletin!

LOL, the wannabe poet in me likes the notion of "word sorcery." The sciences tend to have very precise definitions and classifications including in biology; but these classifications aren't always what people are referring to when discussing these terms. "Human" has more valid meanings than just the biological classification of homo sapiens. Ha, well stop being a wannabe and become the real. Word sorcery is how you achieve great poetry! It works just as well in prose. The great authors are all word sorcerers. There's nothing wrong with word sorcery either, so long as it is used right. It's like gambling I don't write prose or poetry anymore, per se. I just write lyrics now. Word sorcery works in that arena, also. I even once wrote a song about word sorcery! The particular passage: Most melodic joy is knowing Wanton words will not betray, Never keep the crowds from crowing As you hold them in your sway. It was a joke song meant to be played internally in the band and never in public and was just a tongue-in-cheek way of looking at what kinds of lyrics seem to be most successful in rock. I later, however, wrote real lyrics to the song with an entirely different theme and now we play it live under its new guise. I only say “wannabe” because I haven’t been published. I think I’ve just studied/read poetry into a paralytic state; the anxiety of influence, and all that nonsense I say I don’t buy into (but secretly kinda do). It just seems inevitable that no matter what I write I go back to in a few weeks/months and have a revulsive, “destroy it with fire,” reaction to it; but I’d rather be overly critical than a modern William McGonagall. It’s actually much cooler that you just get to write lyrics. WH Auden once opined that the challenge with writing words for music was in keeping it simple enough so that the music could express all the emotions that the words didn’t betray themselves, while in poetry you have to make words alone do all the work. I always thought that was an interesting take and a keen insight into what made a lyricist like Bob Dylan so great even when his lyrics don’t always read like great poetry on the page, but seem really deep when played/sung. Since we’re on the subject of the power of words, here’s one of the few poems I’ve written on the subject: I’ve heard the world was made with just a word. I’ll make one too. I raise my eyes to look: From here the fallen world is like a bird. That can’t be right. Things that far off get blurred. I hear her singing by the babbling brook. I’ve heard that love is made with just a word. The goddess speaks to me. Her words are slurred, But music pierces like a fishing hook. From there a nightingale, like any bird, Bursts from the fiery tree. The sleeping herd Waken and trample down the flames. I’m shook. I’ve heard that hate is made with just a word. It takes an instance to rebel, a third Of heaven’s host to land in burning nooks. From here the fallen man is like a bird. I dive into the fire to forge a sword From nadir’s grain; a phoneme’s all it took. I’ve heard a poem’s made with just some words. From here the phoenix rises like a bird. *** Since we were discussing poker, I also wrote a (slightly defective!) sestina called Texas Hold’em if you’d like to read it. Ninja'd ya. Apparently. If one is attacked by a ninja, one usually doesn't even understand what happened. In this case, I freely admit I am not sure I even understand his post. He seems to have re-written everything I wrote in the post he is quoting. I must be missing a distinction somewhere. Maybe you can help clear things up for me. I was tempted to put a like on his post because I'm not sure I don't agree with it. Help me out here. I said “ninja’d” because I felt he’d basically said the same thing I did in my reply just above his, only more concisely.

Okay.... I know you guys are just gonna accuse me of siding with Smithy for the sake of siding with Smithy... (For the record, I think he's dead wrong on the "Black Panther" thread on the Politics board).. BUT: Cooljgs, formerly Smithjgs, is a well-practiced liar. Be aware, you're not alone in having observed that. This is a sentence that can be heard at least 20 times during the annual Bigfoot-A-Con... ...it doesn't make Bigfoot real either. I just read the 2 "Cake" threads... Isy.. You come across as a bitter loon in the second one. Smithy's stance remains pretty similar from the first thread... Cakes not really being free speech an' all. Just sayin'... Of course, you'll probably just disregard this as some form of bias... but... that'd be kind of thing a bitter loony would do.

If it had stung, I would have apologized. That's what mature people do. If you were to look through my history, you'd find examples of this. The fact that your weepy little story didn't move me has less to do with my ethics and more to do with the fact that I think you're a willing liar. That's twice now you've called me a liar. And I still forgive you - and your 'ethics'.

Others have mentioned your gratuitous and unpleasant use of the word? I wouldn't be surprised. And whether you supposedly didn't have me in mind or not, it is striking how it comes up just a day or so after an exchange between us, in which such a sarcastic reference to your Christ "being proud of you" features. But maybe you get well-deserved blowback all the time though lol
['Your ilk'] As already mentioned, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. So I thank you. Again. No need to use emojis though.

The one written by humans into "scripture" of course. Tinted-glass readings leave you with all kinds of silly. When a woman has a discharge, if her discharge in her body is blood, she shall continue in her menstrual impurity for seven days; and whoever touches her shall be unclean until evening. Everything also on which she lies during her menstrual impurity shall be unclean, and everything on which she sits shall be unclean.

It doesn't take anything to be published. I have friends who have books (plural) published and they are terrible writers. And those are full novels! If you submit your poetry for publication, chances are, it will get published. Back before I started this band, I jammed with equally-talented musicians in full band set-up for over a decade in various basements. Before that, I had been writing songs for years, occasionally playing them for girlfriends or at parties and in college music classes. Now I'm in this band and I get paid to perform. You know what the difference is? Nothing but a stage and a little bit of money. I'm still the same singer. I'm still the same songwriter. And I still play a below average guitar (though being in a regularly-gigging band has forced me to get a little better). There's really no difference. Artists are artists whether they get paid or not. Everyone does this. Self-loathing (as it pertains specifically to one's art) is a hallmark of the artist. This is my struggle. I started out writing poetry and prose and it continues to be a difficulty for me when writing lyrics to keep it simple. I tend to over-describe things. But it's something I'm getting better and better at. Part of the problem is that, with lyrics, the writer should leave them a little vague so that the listener can form his own conclusion and can relate it to his own life. A lot of my lyrics have been more Robert Plantesque in the sense that I write stories and events. So I'm trying to write more and more about feelings so that my audience can internalize what they hear. Indeed, it's a triumvirate of words, melody and harmony blending that truly brings the lyrics to life. It's why I'd rather sing my lyrics to someone than let them just read them. I like it! Elemental is always a plus with me. Yes.
