Mr Moto's Gamble was fairly enjoyable except for the annoying kleptomaniac character. And sure, nobody at all saw the killer use a water gun to spray poison on the glove, ringside of a sold out fight |

Finally made it through all eight Lorre outings, and I can't say I particularly enjoyed them. Most of them, I couldn't really get into and didn't care for the plots.

I've watched the first five Mr. Moto movies in release order today, what a fun day I'm having!
Peter Lorre may not have wanted the role initially, but he must have changed his mind later on, he appears to be having too much fun as an actor in all those disguises.
The stories move along rapidly and are full of unexpected action scenes, for a movie from the 30's. The stories seem almost secondary to just enjoying Lorre's performances. He is not Asian, but he really sort of looks the part. He brings dignity to Mr. Moto, something that wasn't always the case with ethnic miscasting of the era. He's just very likable as an Actor, and in this role.
Not sure if I will see the whole series today, I'll probably finish it tomorrow.

Moto is supposed to be a crack agent, but his peepers aren't too clever. In Thank You, Mr Moto, he doesn't notice that Tom Nelson looks exactly like Bob Hitchings from the previous movie. I noticed that too! I know the same actors sometimes get recast in a series, but in the very next series entry? And in such a similar role I had to check to make sure he was not the same character again on IMDb! |

I was going to put the sixth entry, Mr. Moto's Last Warning, off till tomorrow, but now I'm watching it. John Carradine makes his second appearance in the series here, after playing a different character in the second entry, Thank You, Mr. Moto. Love that Moto brings his black cat, Chunkina, with him on adventures!  |
