A few quotes:
"Black Panther' Review: Marvel's History-Making Superhero Movie is a Masterpiece." - The Rolling Stones, 4/4 stars
"Black Panther is the grown-up Marvel movie we’ve been waiting for." - The Verge, 100/100 on Metacritic
"Unusually grounded for a Marvel superhero epic, and unusually gripping." - New York Magazine, 90/100 on Metacritic
"Black Panther delivers the goods as an adventure film, a political statement, and a cultural celebration. It shakes off a sluggish start thanks to a memorable cast of characters going up against Marvel’s best-realized villain in almost a decade." - IGN, 9.0/10

We have ourselves a Rotten Tomatoes consensus:
"Black Panther elevates superhero cinema to thrilling new heights while telling one of the MCU's most absorbing stories -- and introducing some of its most fully realized characters."
It's now at 100% with 47 reviews, an 8.6 average and an 9.2 average from top critics.

It happened to films like 'Noah' as well. It's not all that uncommon.

Wow! I wonder whether BP will be rated as the number 1. bestest movie of all time ever forever, amen, based on RT's highly reliable calculations using Bayes' theorem?

Sadly, we all know that ‘Fifty Shades Freed’ has a higher chance of Best Picture nomination since it has more “drama” in it.

Actually, judging by the reviews, Black Panther also plays like a serious spy thriller with a powerful message about social society. Similar to Get Out last year.
