Comicbook movies that had the most external boosters:
TDK Wonder Woman Logan and now possibly Black Panther
Don't see how DOFP could have had any such external booster though.

Maybe not quite as big a booster as a main cast member's death or having the backing of the PC crowd but it's still a booster.

It wasn't really enough though, DOFP was clobbered by Guardians of the Galaxy.

Those are some powerful "boosters"! I didn't even like the movie all that much, but I can see it for what it actually was.

Just the old cast coming back at all was all the Booster needed. And we already knew Singer didn't have the guts to leave things the way they ended in X3. B) They knew he was partly why X1 and X2 were more enjoyable than X3 or Wolverine Origins. Of course, this wasn't enough to save them from Guardians.

It focused mostly on McAvoy, Fassbender, Lawrence, and Jackman, who had been in every movie including The Wolverine just one year before DoFP. It wasn't exactly a new thing to see Jackman as Wolverine on-screen either. And Singer's name was pretty much mud at the release of the movie. I still remember critics pretty much apologizing for liking it, and it underperformed at the box office due to the negative press coverage surrounding him (it was supposed to open at $125 million and it only got $110 million).

Doesn't matter, they were in it for important parts and especially that silly end sequence. Like I said, even with the boosters it wasn't enough to survive against Guardians.

Guardians of the Galaxy has nothing to do with the nonexistent "boosters" behind DoFP.

Wait, where did you read about critics apologizing? I thought that scandal got erupted a month before the film’s official release...

And "apologizing" may have been a stretch, but I remember several reviews that would mention the scandal and essentially sound more or less like they didn't want to like his work, but did anyway.

IMDB now down to 6.6, despite nobody seeing it yet IMDb has gone downhill over the years, but since last year it has almost zero credibility left. IMDb ratings now pretty much governed by fandoms & political movements and therefore many ratings (f.e. TLJ & Black Panther) are just exaggerated opinions of a small amount of the people who have seen it. I used to check IMDb regularly to see a movie's general consensus, but nowadays I don't do that anymore and it don't really care if a movie has a 6.8 or an 8.8 on IMDb. IMDb is now just a place where people call every movie in existence overrated. Even is you go to one of the highest rated movies 90% of all the reviews will give it a 1/10 and call it one of the worst movies ever made.

Down to 97%! OMG that movie is gonna be a total piece of shit! I wish you MCU fans would be able to emote and post without constantly refering to excrement. It's just not necessary.

Down to 97%! OMG that movie is gonna be a total piece of shit! Check out the last person who gave it a rotten rating. That's the first review she has done in 8 years. Talk about having an agenda.....
