I don’t know if he’s doomed or not. After all, the Motion Picture Academy gave Polanski the Best Director Oscar for “The Pianist”, which would mean that there are probably some other directors who would stick up for him too.

Nope. Not out of a career. Loads of people have defended Polanski over the years. This is nothing new.
Also, this interview was from 15 years ago. Not like it's going to have a substantial impact as if it happened yesterday.

Sony will cancel his new movie. The outcry in Hollywood is already deafening. Di caprio will pull out, he will not want to be part of this shit storm.

He has been caught lying!
Mr. Tarantino said he and Maureen Dowd, the author of the Times piece, had not connected for an interview, telling Deadline, “Me and Dowd never hooked up.” Ms. Dowd said on Tuesday that she had reached out to Mr. Tarantino six times, twice through his agent, twice through his personal assistant and twice through personal numbers. The office of the agent, Mike Simpson, confirmed to Ms. Dowd that the director had received the message, she said. Ms. Thurman had also encouraged Mr. Tarantino to talk to Ms. Dowd.

Nah, Tarantino will proceed and end up making the best film of his career. Can Dicaprio still pull out though? I've never cared for him.

Nothing happened to Meryl Streep for defending Polansky.

Nothing happened to Meryl Streep for defending Polansky. Or those who gave him an Academy Award.

He's right that there is a different attitude in Europe. In Germany there was an actress doing nude spreads at 13, one with her mother.
And in one 1960s spaghetti western, forgot the name, with Tomas Milian, this guy meets a group of mormons and warns then about a rapist who targets young girls and he tells this one older guy to watch out for his daughter-and he replies--That's not my daughter, that's my wife.

In no European country I can think of that I have been to, including Germany, are you considered anything less than a psychotic monster if you are an adult having sexual relations with a 13 year old. The attitude you are looking for is in Mad Max or something, not present day reality.

The attitude you are looking for is in Mad Max or something, not present day reality. Who was speaking of the present? I was speaking of Europe and media presentations. Katja Bienert was doing nudity in 1980 at age 13. She did a shoot with her own mother. Magazines joked that she was old enough to appear nude in a movie but not see her own movies in a cinema. These days slapping someone across the face would provoke a storm, in the 1970s, it could happen to a kid in a movie with no one even noticing (the kid slap in Superman the Movie was intended as something for audiences to laugh at). Come to think of it, they did show a little kid in the nude in that movie too. If they did it these days it would be labelled child porn immediately.
