To me, closing credits are as much a part of the film as what came before it. Plus you never know if there are parting gags or not.

If there is a good song playing and/or if the credits are unique.

If I have nowhere to go immediately afterwards and/or if I really enjoyed the film.
For example, I loved Phantom Thread and would have stayed, but had to immediately go and see The Shape of Water. However with the shape of Water, didn't love it so much.... So I left...... whoopsy daisy.

About half of the time. Depends how much I liked the film. If I liked/loved the film I usually see the end credits as well. If a crappy song is on I skip them.

...I agree with the scene afterwards...an excellent example of this is the Liam Neeson film "The Grey" which has a final scene after the credits roll which actually completes the film.

Unless it's a Naked Gun type movie where you know there's gags in them, there's little value seeing who the best grip and 2nd Assistant Director were.

Masters of the Universe (1987) IS a PERFECT example of the reason WHY one SHOULD stay UNTIL after the credits are completed.

Masters of the Universe (1987) IS a PERFECT example of the reason WHY one SHOULD stay UNTIL after the credits are completed. I saw “MOTU” on a twin bill with “The Monster Squad” and the theater turned off the projector during the end credits of both movies! 🤬 I didn’t learn of the bit at the end of “Masters...” until I saw it on cable.

I always do, unless the song is terrible or breaks the atmosphere of the last scene. The Gift, for example.

ck100That pretty much sums it up. but ill add... lately it seems a fair amount of movies add in more footage at the end of the credits etc. so outside of what you described ill usually fast forward through the credits to see if there is more footage and if there is ill watch that.

In a movie theater no, but on TV usually yes. Sometime the music or some other aspect grabbed me and I wanted to see who was responsible. I particularly remember when watching John Carpenter's "Prince of Darkness" how much the street person who stabbed Thom Bray with a bicycle resembled rock star Alice Cooper. Couldn't possibly be him, but I watched the credits anyway just to find out.

Yes with old films, because closing credits are usually very short, and sometimes they just have The End and that's it. With modern films not so much because the credits go on for ages and are often very dull. Sometimes though they put on images with the credits which enourages me to watch for longer.

Of course. Someone on a film board should not be asking this question.

Just to see if there's a scene afterwards. At home I fast forward through the credits to check this. Although, as someone else noted above, if there's a great song I'll listen to it.

If the movie has a post-credits scene or a decent song to listen to, I'll watch the closing credits. I do watch the end credits for older films where they was just a cast listing.

Usually, yes. For the acting credits, filming locations and songs. And extra scenes, if applicable.
