Hollywood's still got some progress to go. It's not as liberal as some would like to think.

Ava DuVernay turned down Black Panther and Patty Jenkins left Thor 2.

Very interesting. Did they give reasons?

Very interesting. Did they give reasons? The only thing that I could find was the old "creative differences" type of talk.

Hollywood's still got some progress to go. It's not as liberal as some would like to think. It's extremely liberal. It's just that liberals aren't as morally superior as they think they are. They're still driven by self-interest.

Ava DuVernay turned down Black Panther and Patty Jenkins left Thor 2. And isn't she the same director of Wonder Woman?

There are a lot more male directors than there are female directors, so it follows that it would be easier to find a fit for your movie that's a male director instead of female, simply because you have a bigger pool to choose from.
And as mentioned above, Marvel had already approached female directors before, it just didn't work out. Same way some of their male directors also didn't work out.
I doubt Marvel is trying to be sexist, probably just so happens that the directors they find for the job are male. And I'd rather they pick the right director for their movies regardless of sex and gender rather than specifically hire a female director just so they can claim to be diverse.

What's going on here? Boy's club? Supposedly Jessica Jones season 2 is going to be directed entirely by women and Kevin Feige wants a female director for Captain Marvel.

And the funny part about that is that she might be the best director they have over there. Yeah, they are a mess. They're never going to get it together. I can't fathom why they thought that killing off Superman in the second movie would be a smart decision. It has no weight, because you know he's coming back, and the villain only shows up in the last 10 minutes of the movie. There's no suspense or tension there. Plus, I think those movies look really fake. Their effects stink.

If DC had just taken the time to set their universe up properly and actually had Superman develop towards what he's supposed to be as the result of the events in man of Steel like they promised, I could have forgiven the rough start, but NOPE!

The character nor the franchise has earned a death at this point. I remember when the character died in the comics, it was a big deal. It was all over the news. And that's because the character had been around for like 50 years at that point. But this version? He dies in his second movie and at the expense of a villain we have no attachment to. I actually liked the idea of tying Zod to Doomsday's creation. It makes sense, because Doomsday is supposed to hate Superman and nobody would hate him more than Zod. But to have the character created in the last 10 minutes of the movie only to die just eliminates any kind of tension or emotion from Superman's death. And I just can't stand the weather movies look. I hate the muted coloring that is meant to make everything feel somber and serious. I hate how in both movies characters to start throwing each other through buildings. Everything is the biggest thing to ever happen. I can't stand special-effects either. It looks fake to me. Even the costumes. They don't look natural or real the way they do in some other movies.

Honestly they should have saved the death of superman and his funeral for a final Justice League film. Just imagine the emotional and powerful moment of Batman, Wonder Women, The Flash, Aquaman, Green Lantern, Cyborg, ect, mourning their fallen friend. The funeral shot in BVS was terrific, just too soon.

excuse? idk.
I do remember when colin trevorrow said something like female directors don't have an interest in these type of films. now i'm not saying I believe that, however............that may be the mindset over there or in Hollywood in general, with other factors of course.

You can see it in every interview and when someone from DC makes a comment. It's always with a "screw Marvel" attitude. When they get to the point they are making their movies because they want to and not beat out Marvel then they might start doing something. But at the same time they are copying what came before. Green Lantern was a wannabe Iron Man and you can see First Avenger in Wonder Woman. Man of Steel was them using Nolan's Batman movies.
