those downvoting are likely not DC fans but those MCU fans who claim that calling black persons "monkeys" is not racist. You got some of these racist raptors on this forum. IMDB2.freeforums.net/post/1305769/thread If ever a DC fan votes racist s/he shall burn in hell watching MCU abominations for all eternity.

You're supposed to watch BAD stuff in Hell. yeah that's why you will go to heaven for punishment after you kick the Marvel bucket, you would likely enjoy the hell out of watching MCU for all eternity. The heavenly SW prequels with a lot of Nolan is on your post mortem menu.

You mean like the racist DC fans that's hating on Black Panther? The thing about Black Lightning is that they are trying to make a Luke Cage-like show, but is doing it very heavy handed. I'm black and I want to call Thunder Sister Souljah. I like the show, but man they need to calm it down.

It's not being racist, well some maybe are but the majority are just being honest, this is a show that can easily not gel with everyone, at the same time a lot of critics and reviewers are going to be nicer to the show than it maybe deserves, it's a real good show imo but I've heard a lot of praise being given to this show for even formulaic and generic elements that most other shows let alone superhero shows would either be trashed for or just shrugged at, and a blind eye has been turned to some of the plot, and I don't doubt a lot of people are going easier on this show than they would others because they don't want to be named and shamed for being "racist".

Depends. If they're the same folks trying to deliberately downgrade Black Panther, yeah they might be or just assholes.

I haven't watched it but my dad watched almost all of these superhero shows and said he turned it off mid way through episode 1.

Didn't the RT TV critics have Supergirl rated well over 90% at one point? It was then that I concluded these people must be mentally ill. I have seen nothing which gives me cause to alter my point of view.

I deem it unlikely that DC fans would do that to one of their brands out of such inferior motives, smells like Marvel spirit to me.
DC already had a female and male lead in Suicide Squad and nobody complained about race.

Didn't Supergirl have a high tomato meter score but an actual low level passing grade though? that's the annoying thing with RT they promote the wrong aspect of the data as important, so people assume a high % = a better product when a barely fresh product can actually score much higher than a "perfect" scoring one.
Obviously BL isn't that because it has both a "perfect" score and a high grade average also unlike Supergirl.

Black Lightning is almost a joke of a show. The fact that it has a 100% on RT is hilarious and almost insulting. Why? It is definitely not the acting or writing. It is definitely not the action sequences. It is another example of a show being largely centered on black culture. Therefore it gets a good rating by default. I have watched the show up to this point and it is okay. Anyone who thinks this show is some masterpiece is hilariously off base. Also, the writers have an 8th grade understanding of current social issues.

Maybe, I don't remember. The main point is that both Supergirl and Black Lightening have really low audience scores. The former is unlikely to have anything to do with race.

Also, Will Smith has gone beyond black and white. He's more of a brand than a black actor. Hell, think about the leading lady/love interest of most black actors and most of the time they are black. Most of the time its the opposite with Smith.

I do remember most of the ratings were in very early though.

I dunno how ANYONE- critic, DC fan, average viewer, etc., could give the show anything less than 8/10 stars. I'd certainly give it 9.5/10 - and I missed the pilot, so I've been guessing a few of the details as it goes along, and I've gotten various friends and family members addicted to the show by having them watch the first ten minutes of a single episode before they are HOOKED.
