Talk about the very definition of underwhelming, its gonna have an IMAX release and there are literally no money shots? Why no reveal of Venom in his full glory? Not surprisingly a lot of people are not taking a liking to the trailer, but I figure a certain thenewnexus is not only in love with the trailer for looking "mature" because has a theory that the people who are not liking the trailer are "brainwashed" into thinking superhero movies have to be lighthearted or something. |

It was a most stylish and intriguing teaser. Tom Hardy is clearly built for a role such as Eddie Brock who narrates his transformation in a manner that is frustratingly vague yet deceptively offers clues to the viewer. A teaser that requires brainstorming has to be commended. The minimalist approach works in the trailer's favor because it requires the viewer to visualize the symbiote and heighten expectations to generate further speculation. The darkly lit surroundings and austere set design hark back to the independent science fiction thrillers of old during the 1970s. The atmosphere reeks of paranoia and dread.

I'm not a fan of Venom as a character and I'm not likely to see this movie. That said, I am a fan of Tom Hardy's work, and if this film has any merit for me, it will likely be based on his skill as an actor alone. I have no opinion about this teaser one way or the other. It looks like a standard, big-budget Hollywood thriller. |

If it wasn't for the brief view of that black glob, I wouldn't have ever related it to Venom. It almost seemed like Brock had telekinesis or something.

That was a pretty generic trailer. I know that you can’t exactly expect big reveals from a teaser trailer, but it doesn’t really capitalize on the Venom part of the movie.

Yeah, I understand (and expect) trailers to not reveal anything too meaty, but I also expect them to tease something about the movie that will get me excited. This didn't do anything for me. |

Yeah, cause that's precisely what Michelinie, McFarlane, Zeck, Frenz, et al had in mind when they created sentient, super goo from another planet that bonds with a human host, can mimic any form of clothing and likes to go on deadly rampages where it kills indiscriminately. Pair that with a revenge-seeking reporter turned super-soldier who's built like a Mr. Olympia contestant and you've got a recipe for instant "grounded" cinema. Jesus H. Christ, did people just buy the comics and seal them away in speculator bags before reading them?  |

Because it's a teaser trailer. I'm happy there's no money shot or no Venom reveal. Save the suprise for the big screen. I'm really thinking about cutting out trailers to improve my moviegoing experience because there's too much footage, revelas, money shots, crowd pleasing moments spoiled etc... This teaser was great. |
