DC does excellently well in animation and video games, under the right people aka Nolan , Bruce Timm or Burton. this could be the next Logan or TDK that could save the genre.

Beh, this is just a further sign of DC's lack of planning and control. Instead of hiring Directors and staff who are willing to work together and create a cohesive universe they keep going for Control Freaks who refuse to work with anything and have a "No, I refuse to create something that will link to anything else. I am completely in control here and I will NOT work with anyone!" attitude.
The Killing Joke isn't a very good story in the first place, especially in how misogynistic it was.
This is will just be another mess. And another sign that DC's old way is obsolete, time to let it die.

No, not the Killing Joke again. Sick of that. Maybe something based off Joker by Brian Azzarello? Jonny Frost already appeared in Suicide Squad and it's apparent that the Riddler is active in this continuity.

This—er—actually sounds kinda interesting… I doubt I would like a Joker origin story sans Batman, though—the characters balance each other out (which is why Bats always needs a villain).

Why don't they just make him a young joker? I’m guessing they’ll use make-up and CGI to make him look young in the early parts of the film. |

Finally something from WB/DC that sounds as though it might actually be good. How will WB manage to fuck it up?  Give someone who directs toothpaste commercials final cut? Test screen it for the Amish community in Pennsylvania and make alterations during reshoots based upon their recommendations? Cast Kat Dennings?  |

Not sure I care about seeing a Joker solo movie. However Phoenix is an interesting choice for the role. I could definitely buy him as a crazy psychopath that really creeps you out to your core.
