So the police have to do some "damage control"? I agree that if a belligerent person is coming at you with a bat you shoot them on the leg but some action still needs to be done. Enough of this " oh this person is mentally unstable" bs! Get the job done! Protect people and yourselves. Failure to comply is an arrestible offense. Just do as your told. They can use tasers, clubs, or mace. Why go immediately to the gun? The gun is the best defense sometimes. Mace only works in direct contact. Like a foot or so away. Who wants to chance that. And truncheons? What is this, vaudeville? They are very cumbersome and you have to dislodge it from your belt upon getting into the police car. And they still only work about a foot and a half away. And getting thwacked on the head could result in more damage than a gsw to the leg. Brain damage. I guarantee you, if the police responded to a call you made about you being attacked and they used only a truncheon or mace and you still got killed, your family would be all over the police's ass over it. Just do as your told. |

The Sox fans freak out no matter what team wins. The reaction would have been the same if the police received a guilty verdict. Rodney is the worst case in point. Do you know WHY he took off? He was driving drunk and was aware he was violating his parole for robbery. Even hours after the beating he was still over the limit for a DWI! Really, you are not making a compelling case.
