So hell froze over, and I decided to give Civil War a shot. I'm like thirty minutes in, and flat out: I don't believe in a million years that the Tony from IM, IM2, IM3, and The Avengers would ever buckle like a belt to some international bureaucratic cabal, much less do so without batting an eye. Now, Iron Man 3 was the last MCU flick I saw, and even though he was a panic attack-having bitch for the whole movie (to the film's detriment) he still had that Stark swagger. Does someone snip his nuts in the intervening films? Or it's just forced conflict for the sake of forced conflict? Or -- the hell? I knew he would eventually split from Cap, but it took literally no time at all and his entire explanation was that some punkass MIT kid died in the Peace Corps because of collateral damage caused by the Avengers that was presumably less than whatever they were there to stop, thus implying the kid would've died anyway and many more? This movie is convoluted AF. And where's Hulk and Thor?! I'm gonna pause it, burn a preroll, and then come back. Hopefully you guys can help me make some sense of this shitshow. ETA: wow, seven pages and counting! I can't tell if that's a good thing or not.

I'm not trying to start shit! I really want to know. I know Tony sided with big gubmint in the 2006 comics storyline, but somehow I thought they would invert that for the MCU adaptation? Like it just seemed so much more organic to me that Tony would support the group's autonomy while Cap (the super soldier) would be more willing to report to a higher authority. Is it just me?

Yeah, watching Winter Soldier and Age of Ultron prior is pretty important before watching Civil War. Well Tony now feels responsible for creating Ultron and now thinks that The Avengers have harmed to many people so he agrees to The Accords.

So I kind of fucked up by jumping in at CW, innit? I'm only like 32 minutes in. Should I just stop here?

Well Thor did leave The Avengers and returned to Asgard following Age of Ultron.
The Hulk was last seen in the Quinjet at the end of that movie and somehow ended up on another Planet. I can't remember the reason as to why.
So they weren't in Civil War because they weren't on the planet.

Yeah you should just stop there because CW's plot is very reliant on what happens in AOU and TWS.

I feel like Hulk may have gotten into one of those areas that transport objects to other realms like what they showed in Thor The Dark World.

Damn. It's almost like these movies are connected to the point of dependency and I'm an idiot for skipping ahead. (Don't even say a word, formersamhmd!!!1)

It's a doozie Nope. I stopped at Iron Man 3, but I was bored and scrolling through Netflix tonight and thought I'd give an MCU flick a shot and share my thoughts with you. I guess I botched it. I kind of forgot about WS, in all honesty. I knew Ultron happened, but I figured I could just surmise via context what implications from it were longstanding. Annnd, fail.

Hulk's quinjet flew into one that was in Earth's atmosphere, and if you get lost in the gates you end up one the Grandmaster's world (that's why we see the gates dumping garbage all over the place in Ragnarok). That's how Hulk ended up there.

I’d personally continue I put on an episode of Batman: The Animated Series on Amazon Prime while waiting for formersamhmd to pitch in his two cents. It's still paused on the Netflix app.

He doesn't, but Bruce Banner does. Honestly, pay attention when you watch MCU movies. They don't spoonfed you, they respect their audiences' intelligence.
