I just read a Lawrence Block novel; one of the Matthew Scudder mysteries. I think I had already read it, because it seemed familiar without anything being really definite about it. I didn't particularly enjoy it.
Now working on Seven Keys to Baldpate by Earl Derr Biggers.

Today I finished the February 1906 edition of the magazine Talking Machine World. This magazine was produced for reading by those in the record industry (including retailers of records). "Talking machine" is a term used at the time for a record player.
My favourite part is the section on penny arcades, which sound like a lot of fun based on the description given. This article also discussed vending machines....didn't know they already existed back in 1906.
I also very much enjoyed the advertisements.

Joseph Connolly - Every Dead Thing
Hopefully more impressive crime fiction than the Mark Billingham one. Only about 30 pages in, but it looks likely to be an improvement.

I just read the February 1915 edition of the magazine Kodakery, published by Kodak.
My favourite part, strangely enough, is the adverts. Unlike modern magazine ads, these ads actually describe the product. Of the ads which appear in the magazine, my favourite is the one for the Premo Junior, which they marketed as a camera for kids.

In February, I read "The Willows" by Algernon Blackwood. I would call it a psychological horror story.
I understand that Lovecraft liked Blackwood's work.
