@ Runie: I am all for free speech. We live in a time where open and honest discussions are more necessary than ever. This is not my point.
I am talking about posters with a history and notoriety for stalking, doxxing, revealing private information about others and threatening them. I can think of at least three cases: Ben, Frances and their female version, Blonde. These people admit they take sadistic pleasure in what they do. These posters don't care about free speech nor do they deserve its protection. They care about free bullying. They are sadistic psychopaths who should not be admitted to any boards.

I watched that happen last night. It started with the board at the top, and went down to the next, and the next... It was like a waterfall going over an ice cube tray. About two dozen boards were targeted. Each board had this post with about 10 instances of the same disgusting picture on it. I thought the whole website would get it, but this weirdo stopped at about about 25 posts. Thank goodness. I was glad to see, that when I came back today, it had been all cleaned up.
The interesting thing is, this weirdo, who I think was a woman, had actually been using the boards for real discussions. Then all of a sudden, she snapped, and bombed the website.
It was horrible to see this whole thing happen right before my eyes. And I don't want to know, where she got that picture. YUCK.

I'm relieved to hear that administer. Geeze, I can't believe some posters for imdb shut it down. I don't like it, but I want this one lasting as long as you can. As I said no moderators. No repeat of history.

I read on another thread here on the sandbox that imdb is closing down, because of trolls. If that is the case no moderators. People can ignore them or not feed trolls. I can't believe many didn't do that over there. If that is the case, I don't want them complaining, unless it gets out of hand, causing the administrator grief until he shuts it down.

At least this way the board is his own and so is the data for backups etc As I've said over on imdb this move will mean you can no longer trust ratings over there (not a fan of RT's ratings either) And I believe it's all about money/big company influence, any other reason is pathetic really, been a member 5 years and trolls didn't bother me, tho I wasn't a prolific poster, more a reader of the already posted questions I'd had |

Facebook has been in the spotlight for pretty much the same reason recently. They had to react because "speech" is their business but it's not IMDb's so the feature was dropped. |
