The same thing is happening in the Brazilian women's volleyball league.
I can't understand how anyone can approve of this, now matter how pro-transgender rights one might be. Maybe the solution will be to change the name of the league from "women's" to "individual with XX chromosomes'" - then nobody could claim discrimination!

You'd have to be careful with that, otherwise you'd get transgender men undergoing treatment in the women's league. I'd replace men's leagues with non-segregated leagues - anyone can enter as long as it's safe. Women's leagues would be for cisgender women only, if you're having any sort of treatment, if you're trans-anything, intersex etc. go and play in the free for all league.

God, I miss the days when we used to just laugh at weirdos. That made me chuckle in spite of myself. Even though I dislike the extremes that present-day transgender activism is going to, I think they deserve respect and I certainly don't approve of laughing at them, or calling them weirdos, for that matter. Having said that, sports is one line that should absolutely NOT be crossed. You were born with a penis but you think you are a woman and you want to change your name and have your genitals surgically removed? Fine, that is your prerogative, and good luck with that. Just realise that by so doing you will relinquish the right to play sports competitively. Not everyone is always entitled to do anything they want. Just to stay in the realm of sports, you can't play the junior tournament or the senior tournament at Wimbledon if you are 23 years old, because you would have an unfair advantage over the other competitors. Nobody questions the legitimacy of imposing age restrictions – I have yet to hear anyone claiming “age discrimination” after being denied access to a junior sports event on account of them no longer being a junior – so why can’t organisers simply say that women’s leagues are strictly for individuals who are biologically women, and not open to those who identify as women but were not born as one?

Political correctness gone mad, and for the first time in ever it's not hyperbole.

Political correctness gone mad, and for the first time in ever it's not hyperbole. Yep, I hate that phrase but on this occasion you can't really argue with that. Someone could get hurt, and what if this was boxing or MMA, these sports are not games and someone could get killed. I mean is that what it is gonna take, a man in a dress killing a woman to end this lunacy? .

Although it might not seem like it right now this actually a good thing because it's another push towards a resolution being set for this.
e.g. Next up a transexually bloke steps forward in Athletics and smashes intersex Caster Semanya who then gets upset.
Then someone steps forward saying it's unfair they have to have undergone any realignment surgery - why's it not just enough that they "identify" as being a woman...
Finally stop - Eight strapping lads lining up for the "Women's" 100 metres final at the Olympics. Only then (or near enough 😉) will we get women & intersex athletes crying out that it's unfair. At this point things will be sorted out on a sporting rather than political basis.

State league only. Still not allowed in the pros. AFL basically decided to throw her a bone, but are well aware transgender athletes is a distraction the fledgling women's comp doesn't need.

I don't like that this grouped in with a gay rights issue. Objecting to a homosecual person being in a sports team is all about peejudice. Objecting to a trandgender woman being in a women's sports team is about biological facts.
