I definitely want to see it again. I was not in the greatest theater for it, so the fight scenes did not look that great. I still really enjoyed the movie though. I just want to throw that out there. I am just saying all the reviews praising it for being some kind of revolutionary movie are ridiculous. Revolutionary for people of colour for the 21st century. it means a lot to them. its something we can at least understand giving the toxic political climate we are in and black history. lmao, "revolutionary"--Its just a $200 million dollar movie with a black cast, its a comic book total fantasy movie, that's all it is

Are there any characters centered around those cultures? I mean there are some comics led by characters of those cultures. Latin we have White Tiger. But, I mean, people would look at that as Marvel making another Black Panther. And nobody likes Ms America (and that would be more of a LGBTQ movie). Most are villains, mutants or a Spider-man/woman. Ms. Marvel for Middle Eastern. Hard-pressed to find Indian characters in Marvel that's not villains or mutants. Shang-Chi will most likely go to wherever Marvel sends their Netflix shows after they start their streaming service (Hulu?). Then you have Silk (just a Spider-woman) and mutants and others that are East Asian other characters and mutants. Most are either caricatures of the culture they are suppose to be a part of or that culture is surface. The Latino ones are the worst. Most are El "something". Well there's Amadeus Cho Hulk, Kamala Khan Ms. Marvel, Robbie Reyes Ghost Rider and Miles Morales Spiderman. And although these characters all live in the US, they could easily showcase the culture of their families and communities. It could even be argued that Ironfist and Dr. Strange both had a chance to showcase a lot of Asian culture despite having caucasian leading men. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't. Iron Fist was criticized for that, but with Dr Strange it got away with a White Lead because Magic isn't some Asian-Specific thing. Also they made sure to show his training site as being multi-ethnical and not a stereotypical Hidden Martial Arts School.

As a matter of fact is Danny Rand.

Dr Strange averted it by NOT going for all those "Mighty Whitey" cliches.

No, Scott Buck fucked that one up, and Marvel's Inhumans. I think Iron Fist was just boring for the first quarter as it was just him trying to prove he was Danny Rand. Upon re-watch I skipped most of the first four episodes only concentrating on The Hand, the mythos, Coleen... it was half decent in the second watch kind of fast forwarding the boring parts.

Yeah, but right from the start it was getting ripped into for the whole "White Martial Artist" thing. Inhumans suffered from NO ONE involved wanting to make it. Buck just seems to have bad luck with projects. And the big problem is that they only showed the first few episodes to the critics who savaged the show. I'm gonna be crude here, the Danny/Colleen love scene was just too sexy.

Danny Rand is white... so I don't understand why the public complained about him being white. That's just stupid. My point was that they could have at least delved more into Asian culture, considering that he's this master Kung-Fu guy who studied under Shaolin Monks and who's girlfriend is this master kenjutsu lady who supposedly studied under a Ninjutsu master.

It was actually the first time The hand got interested but the first half got boring to quick. I'm a Comic Book reader, I got super pissed off when they cut Medussa's hair as it seemed as a budget decision to be honest, I mean Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. had the first half of its 5th Season in space and this series was set on earth.. wtf??? I actually think Billy Russo and Agent Madani on Marvel's The Punisher was "too secy" as they showed them actually fucking . I have no issue with sex but I felt it was a bit much for a CBM property. Tho I loved that show.

Was trying to stay away from legacy characters. That's why I said Shang-Chi instead of Cho. Robbie Reyes was already on SHIELD. And I don't think they'll upgrade him to his own series or a movie.
