Always loved this actor, and his now dearly departed wife, Dixie Carter, too. I always loved him in The Firm, but he is amazing in Into the Wild, see it if you haven't yet. Happy birthday Hal Holbrook!

RITUALS 1977
A starring role and really interesting film.
I know someone who was talking to HH on a movie set and he loved talking about the horror films he did, but before they could get to this film, he was called away.

Magnum Force 1973, since Clint Eastwood was the hero, you'll know who will loose this battle. Ten years later, now he's judge administering vigilante justice: The Star Chamber (1983)

Rituals is a creepy and chilling horror thriller. So many memorable scenes; the deer head, the bee swarm attack, and the shape of the killer standing on the horizon. Good make-up effects by Carl Fullerton. It's interesting to know that Holbrook is proud of the horror films he did.

I think it has some great Holbrook scenes like when he is telling the Korean rice paddy story. The killer on the horizon, yes that was a particularly effective moment--the film has a gothic feeling. Yeah he liked doing the Fog and Creepshow from what I heard from a movie crew person.
