One of those movies that became a hit on early Video, if it hadn't it would have been forgotten.
Before the big movie companies released there movies on Video, some very small companies had their haydays, And one of those were The Incredible Melting Man, it's a horrible low-budget movie offcourse.
Before cable TV and all it's accesses of 100 of TV chanels, this was a movie all watched (?)

Ha yes. Movie is awful.
The character of Dr. Theodore "Ted" Nelson is most interesting.
He complains that his wife didnt get his favorite crackers in a kitchen rant.
But his golden moment is near the end when his friend, Steve, the melting man, who he knows is radioactive and falling apart and insane, hits him and he is hanging over a railing--and Ted holds out his hand and says in effect: "Steve, help me! It's your friend, Ted Nelson!"
Would he really trust a psycho radioactive man with limb integrity issues to save him?

It's the kind of movie that you need to watch with a friend... and his two robots.

It's hilarious. What a hoot! And that girl that just screams and screams and cowers in the corner. It was so over-done, that it is classic.

Oh yes, I remember The Incredible Bad Movie. The only good thing about it was Rick Baker's amazing make-up effects. Other than that, a total dud.

The makeup was cool, but the rest of the film did offer some other virtue, with the presentation of the horror and some colorful characters and amusing situations.

From the title, it sounds like it doesn't know if it's a horror movie or superhero movie. But no, I never even heard about this film. Though, the monster looks horrendous.

I guess for the time when it was made, it was an original premise— as were most films from this era—and what it depicted was more horrendous than perhaps incredible in the context of what was happening to the titular title character. However, it was also a hype, because it was a low budget B grader, and they also still didn't shy away from the fact in the advertising that it was a horror film.

I remember the VHS release being so dark that 40% of the time I couldn't see jack shit. No idea if it was the film-to-tape transfer or if the cinematographer was a complete moron. Anyway, this is not something that I'll be revisiting soon.

Wasn't there a scene where a police chief reaches into his holster and pulls out a fried chicken leg?

I just don't know what is so "incredible" about someone melting, or a melting monster for that matter. By that, they would probably mean "incredibly ugly."
